The fact that they stated yearly costs instead of monthly tells something :) Dev's salary alone would be 3-5 years of having subscription to the product. In total they got passive asset that will drain expenses slowly. Buuut this stage is unavoidable - many companies should try something like this to go back for paying for products they use.

It's already confirmed that Opus 5 is going to have one aspect in par with Fable 5 and that would be +4.16% increase from the Opus 4.8 in the aspect. This would definitely make it the latest Opus model available to the public.

yeah, you know how to slow down any discussion to a "democracy-talk". But let me go back to the initial point - when ruzzia started getting their oil-processing capabilities destroyed you raised question "is it a good strategy". You are challenging single working sanctions agains them, something that put them into the huge discomfort - first time in 4 last years.

Yes our. if you are in team west then its incumbent on you to ask questions especially if the people you voted in to power are doing stuff in your name that you question. This is what many of us free thinkers in the west are doing in reality - not just on Ukraine - also on Iran, Cuba, Greenland, UK, China, Taiwan, the list goes on and on. its called democracy. and freedom of speech. If you are from a western country then you too have this.

@bigdavetalks @WW3_Monitor Sure sure comrade 🤭 you are doing good job defending ruzzia but they may not have much cashflow 💸 soon. ruzzians were targeting cities from day 0 and it's a delusion that something can "provoke" them

@WW3_Monitor What impact on the front line has any of this actually had? Has it backfired with strikes on keiv and the taking of key cities on the way west? How is this good strategy? It’s good narrative and propaganda for sure and our western loves it! But military strategy? How?

It takes 24 hours for Santa to deliver gifts for all kids in the world, how long it would take for OpenAI to deliver Sol to all paying customers?

@Brennan_Lup Fable 5 Max is not a proper choice for 99.999% of tasks and Fable is an overkill for 80% of all tasks.

Anthropic's credit system is a scam. Don't turn on credits for the team. Fable 5 Max burns through your entire usage budget in five prompts, and that's not an accident. They want you hitting limits so you'll flip on credits and eat a $100k+ bill for compute you don't need. Skip the flagship models. They're not worth the cost. Stick with Opus 4.8, or use a model router. You're not doing rocket science here, you're building a niche tool that a hundred other people have already shipped.

Since coding and debugging for Fable 5 is not an option - share prompts you would use. Mine top ones - logo/graphics, PRDs validation and QA plans.

OpenAI achieved a much more significant breakthrough today. Sonnet 5 is an average release. But the fact that OpenAI, according to The Information, has managed to more than halve the inference costs of its current models through a new approach to inference optimization is absolutely groundbreaking. And when you also consider that they recently introduced their own inference chip with Broadcom, which is said to be faster and more efficient than the competition, I increasingly see OpenAI in an outstanding position. Today, at least, OpenAI emerges as the winner of the day.

Here is my first assessment of Sonnet 5: Sonnet 5 is better than Sonnet 4.6. Who would have thought? But jokes aside: Unfortunately, it is weaker than Opus 4.8 across all evals. Why they nevertheless labeled the latest Sonnet 5 iteration with a “5”, even though “4.8” would have been more fitting, is beyond me. Normally, major version jumps in particular signal a significant leap in capability. Be that as it may: Sonnet 5 is good, but worse than expected. Pricing has not changed; it is on the same level as its predecessor. Opus is still more expensive, but at the same time it also remains better. Overall, the release irritates me and leaves more questions than it answers. I cannot help but see Sonnet 5 as a release that stands in the context of Fable 5. There was no mention of Fable 5 at all, which surprises me a lot. I really would have expected us to get news about it at the same time. But nothing. Instead, we get an update to a new model series (“5”), but one that is not significant compared with the models we already have. As a result, there is a lingering aftertaste that Sonnet was released as something in between, perhaps also simply to release something at all and to stay part of the conversation, including in a positive sense. Why no Opus 5, when we know that Fable 5 already exists as a model that performs significantly better than 4.8, and when we can assume both that a better Opus exists internally and that it would not be difficult to update Opus to the new generation? Why “only” Sonnet 5? Because restraint is currently required. The major releases are currently being delayed across the board; they are still in discussions with regulators about how the truly powerful frontier releases can be carried out at all and under what conditions. In my view, the Sonnet 5 release has to be seen against this background. And as a result, at least for me, it was disappointing overall.

Sonnet 5 is a great model if you want something less smarter than Opus 4.8 but for the same price. Heiku 5 can be less smarter than Sonnet 5 for the same price also. This would make model selection simpler. Sonnet 5.1 can be less smarter than Sonnet 5 and can be a bit more expensive.
