McIlroy had been a bit quiet since Bethpage. This is one of my favorite quotes from RORY, with Paul McGinley offering so much insight on when/why McIlroy plays his best: “When his heart is engaged in something, and it really means something to him, he generally delivers. And then he goes into these flat periods in his career—he’s had lots of them. It’s an Irish thing to be melancholy, and he goes into these periods of melancholy, but it’s not that he’s not caring—it’s almost like he’s in a slumber. And then, all of a sudden, he ignites. And when that heart goes on fire, that’s when he comes out and does something that amazes us. If he has that quiet look of determination combined with that joyfulness of chasing a goal, that’s when the magic happens.”

I mean that was a great test match, no doubt about that. But seriously, the fact that so many people are ready to venerate this as the greatest 6N of all time? Its key component has been high scoring matches and a kit clash, making a lot of what you’ve said about Super Rugby since like, forever, feel just a tad two faced right now. But hey, keep blaming NZ and Aus for trying to make stuff like this happen on a more regular basis! And this isn’t just a dumbass social media thing, either. This perception literally manifested itself into a situation at World Rugby level just last month, so like maybe put away the partisan perceptions and just admit you like watching tries get scored?

People cheering on war from either side is so grim. Bombing cities is bad no matter your ideology. People driving themselves insane backing the country that aligns slightly more with their bullshit.

This reminds of how Michael Jordan didn’t and doesn’t really listen to rap. He listened to more soul and jazz music. Layering jazz and classical music on sports clips changes the whole feel of what you’re seeing lol

@RonanjGrace @jim_demps Ronan you’re perfectly entitled to that opinion but what good is moaning about it online going to do? Online abuse drives good refs (like Peter Martin) out of the game and shrinks the talent pool. Maybe you (or Jim) could do something constructive, like try reffing yourself?

The first clip was play on. The second pinged for a forward pass. The third clip shows the ref refusing to talk to Jack Crowley at full time I wouldn’t be happy with the ref if I were a Leinster fan, I’m disgusted with him as a munster fan We had a 7 point ref in a 5 point game

@GrizzlyBullMI @jim_demps Shit refs are actually ruining the game and that guy was one of the worst I've ever seen. Can't stand most of Jim's stuff but I was bang in line with these incidents and ref got both wrong. He wasn't up to the task simple as that!

@jim_demps You’ve let yourself down here Jim. Amateur game is crying out for refs and yet all any budding ref sees on social media is relentless criticism of the pro ones after every single game. It’s a difficult and thankless job but there’s no game without them.

Weirdly inexperienced Ref that for a Munster v Leinster game. Didn’t help a weirdly low-quality game.

I know the “internationals” have looked off colour, but plenty of lads bang in form as we turn over the calendar year Second row in particular is really interesting with the returning Joe McCarthy; Ahern, Izuchukwu, Sheridan and Edogbo playing really well at the moment

If you watched both interpros today you wouldn’t be any less concerned about Irish rugby. Very few players in top form.

@BettingRugby999 @StephenWall1985 Well then you should be bothered by ref because he didn't seem to understand the rules and it wasn't even a war just two groups of plodders running into each other and dropping the ball
