In 2005, Israel forcibly removed all Israeli citizens from Gaza. It was one of the most painful days in many years, but for the sake of peace we did it. Not only did we remove all our citizens, but we even excavated and removed every single grave and relocated it in Israel. We left homes, schools, fully operational greenhouses even to allow the Gazans to have an opportunity to build their economy and hoping they would grow to be part of the international community.
Shortly after the last citizen and soldiers left and closed the gates, leaving Gaza free to decide their own future, the Gazans together with the Gazan police forces destroyed the homes, the schools and raided and destroyed every single greenhouse. Nothing was spared, and many used the water pipes to build rocket launchers and homemade rockets. A few hours after the last civilian and soldier left Gaza, the Gazans began to fire rockets at Israel. This was the “peace” they offered us in return.
Several months after the last civilian and soldier left Gaza, terrorists kidnapped Gilad Shalit. And yet, we did nothing. A year after we left Gaza, and with Gilad still held captive, the Gazans held their first “elections”. Hamas and Fatah vied for power, and Hamas massacred many Fatah members and supporters and “won” the elections to take over the rule of Gaza. In response, Israel had no choice but to apply rigorous security measures and checkpoints to ensure that no materials were smuggled into Gaza to manufacture weapons. We didn’t stop food going in. We didn’t stop water or fuel or medicine. It was a very small list of shipments that had to be checked. Yet as much as we tried, Gaza under Hamas still managed to smuggle a lot of materials, and all they used all the aid money for (barring the billions the leaders stole for themselves), was the building of weapons and rockets and tunnels and terror camps.
Now I’m going to stop there and ask just one question:
A lot of propaganda falsely claims Gaza has been under occupation for the last 20 years. That simply isn’t true. Like any responsible country, we had to run security checks on certain items because our next door neighbors were a damned psychopathic terrorist group sworn to our destruction. The United Nations were aiding and abetting Hamas to smuggle in pretty much everything so it was near impossible to prevent every shipment of material for weapons and explosives to be stopped.
Now imagine for a moment if we didn’t have any security measures at all? Imagine if we allowed whatever Hamas wanted to bring in to Gaza to go unchecked, for their air and sea ports to be unchecked allowing Iran and other Islamist states and bad actors to ship every type of weapon imaginable right next door?
What would October 7 have looked like had we allowed Gaza to be completely left unchecked in the hands of Hamas?
Personally, I dread even the thought of what would have been.

@poorlawyer I would go Leanne, but honestly Hezly and Tiana would slip in if they have good nights and Leanne does not.

@DrSam_PhD I am confused, they are saying it's the team, just not officially, but if there is a selection committee, isn't discretion always involved?

To all the weak bullies harassing Jewish kids at universities:
Jews fight back.
We've been around over 5,700 years.
And we're not going anywhere.
And to those of you who aren't Jewish & realize it's ridiculous to blame 15 million people for the problems of the world & have our backs.. thank you.
