@timsoret What tonemapper would you use then? Unlike with filmmaking you are linear to ldr grading for every conceivable shot in the game ahead of time with a single curve essentially.

Clipping is not desirable. Here are several exposures I took in Hong Kong in 2015 with my old Canon 5D Mark I (2005). It shows the problem of narrow dynamic range: I can't protect the saturated highlights without underexposing the whole frame.

Just like in cinema, poor mastery of tonemappers like ACES these days really destroys contrast & saturation. Hence this omnipresent soft, bland, desaturated look.

@Roon_boy I know people who just get a £20 cheap dogshit phone and use that for the duration of their stay. A couple burner social medias and then just redownload your apps once you’re across the border. They’re known to check images I think

I (uk) may need to go on a worktrip to California soon. Are the concerns about border processing inspecting social media and barring entry to the country overblown? Should I make a burner normie twitter?
