So, if the Lions re-sign Decker, that $9.4 M in dead cap stays there and all hits in 2026. But they saved that $1.5 M in roster bonus, and would obviously save however much they reduce his salary by. I still think it’s unlikely but never saying never.

The $9.4 M in dead cap was something the Lions were going to have to deal with no matter if they cut him or not. If they kept him, it would’ve been spread out over the next two years instead of all this year. But he also had a $1.5 M roster bonus due on March 15 they avoided.

He’s still doing it man…

That’s more proof that ownership matters more than everyone thinks. I saw what happened when Sheila Hamp took over for the Ford’s after decades of incompetence. They immediately hired an elite GM and competent coach, leading to 5 years of stability that Lions fans have never seen. We haven’t needed a miracle selection at qb to bail us out of true mediocrity or worse. Owners can’t be fired though, so fans of teams like the jets and cardinals are literally permanently doomed to mismanagement and incompetence unless they luck into an all time qb like the cards did with Warner way back when. But even the Lions couldn’t win a playoff game with Stafford in the days before Sheila Hamp.

The Kyler Murray discourse is proving my theory that the Arizona Cardinals don't really exist. People notice the Cardinals so little that the national media seemingly forgot they're paying Kyler $30M+ to NOT play for them in 2026 due to YEARS of failure.
