Super hard-working Martin at it again in front of those BBC cameras, the Beeb just can't get enough of us! This footage may or may not make it to your screens, rendering the hours spent in makeup ever the more painful, so here's a sneak preview of the action! Action!"

Activities getting us through the cold months this winter on Wednesdays included making our own candles, using our own bee's wax. Filling the moulds was surprisingly therapeutic and produced a scent that accompanied us all for the rest of the day!

We enjoyed "Viola’s Carrot and Cardamom Soup" with volunteer Scott's usual homemade bread. Wednesdays are for everyone to help us get the place productive again. Join us from 10am. We’re not guaranteeing the sun, just a chance to get out and be with other people for a few hours.

We have almost made it through our quietest period. To celebrate the dawn of this year's Rooted activity, the sun came out for the Wednesday crew and we revelled in our planning of the year. Rich did his own egg and spoon race, there he is, look!

There’s still plenty to be getting on with down at Rooted. We have been making use of “The Garden planner” which is a new book produced by Waltham Forest Food Growers Network. The planner is available to buy from their website: wffgn.org.uk/shop

A few late bits to harvest in the Winter sunny days bring out what colour remains down at Rooted in Hull.

Rooted in Sunshine, they are our women's group. Meeting here every Thursday for companionship, crafts and home-cooking. Here they are working on making sure the tables are looking great for next year's events. Keep checking here for what's happening!

This week we were visited by Mo and Mo from Kuwait and Palestine. They are two refugees currently staying in a local hotel. They don't have cooking facilities in their temporary home, so we invited them to Rooted. Here we are then, eating Shobha Khadar or حساء الخضار

Huddled in our Red Container for warmth, this week’s Wednesday homemade veggie soup was a joint effort by regular volunteers Scott and Dom, with additional home made bread from Scot, all delicious!

Rooted in Sunshine is our weekly women’s group. We meet on Thursdays from 10am and do something together until it's time to eat a home cooked meal. Guess what we did last week!

Food never tastes better than when we plant, chop and cook it ourselves!

Volunteering opportunities on Wednesdays at Rooted from 10 am. It's nearly honey harvest time (don’t worry we’ll let you know when it's available. The chillies should last us until next year after being hung to dry, not that we've tried the two together…yet!

Recently we shared the news that Martin had been nominated for a “Make a Difference Award” in the green category. Martin is actually a finalist and we will accompany him to the big reveal next week. Nobody will be cheering louder than us! Well done, Martin! #They’reAllWinners

We remain eternally grateful to our friends at Avenues Open Gardens of Hull who have shared their donations with us as one of their chosen beneficiaries. They visited last week to present us with one of those giant checks, there it is look! From all at Rooted thank you.

Did you know that there used to be an annual event called the Drypool Feast? Nor did we, until Humber Field Archaeology people told us about it! So here it is..... We've got theatre, talks, music, a Rooted grown stew, and obvs our famous pizzas.... 12-5pm, Sat 6th September
