Having kids changed my life and gave me a purpose. My father had problems because Vietnam and Desert Storm turned him into someone I didnt know.
I didnt want my kids to experience my kinda hurt, so I changed.

I'm not sure if I made the announcement or not.
Not By Chance is an officially recognized 501c3 nonprofit charity with tax exempt status. We got our determination letter last week.
It's really opened the doors for donations and grants that I've been waiting to open for a long time. I'm about to go shopping for new partners now.
When I was homeless, I would go into restaurants and tell them I was homeless and hungry and asked them if they had anything they could give me. I was rarely told no.
I have no fear or hesitation when going in to ask for funding for the outreach. Some will say no, others will say yes, I am resourceful if nothing else.
It's hard to believe I was homeless for 3 years, just roaming the streets, not know the way out of the woods. Now, I'm involved in something that means the world to me. I get to be someone who can walk back into those same woods, and try to lead the ones who are still there looking for the path out.
The path was always laid before me, I just had to walk it.
