Please read this thread to better understand how to interpret a high lactate. This patient had a CT to look for mesenteric ischemia because of the high lactate However they clearly are ALKALEMIC due to HYPERVENTILATION This is not a lactic acidosis- it’s a LACTIC ALKALOSIS

I just got home from my evening shift in the Emergency Department. Every thing is at its limit. Every one is working flat out. Every area is full to bursting. Every day a little more is needed. It cannot go on like this. I cannot go on like this.

I think it's vitally important that GP trainees have a 6 month placement in Emergency Medicine, so they can understand how we work, and they do. I think it's as important that EM trainees have a 6 month rotation in General Practice for the same reason, but they don't.
