In a small town in County Cork, Ireland, a monument stands in appreciation to the American Choctaw Indian Tribe. Although impoverished, shortly after being forced to walk the Trail of Tears, the tribe somehow gathered $170 to send to Ireland for famine relief in 1847.

Yesterday, we visited the National Accessibility Inclusion & Disability Expo (NAIDEX) at the NEC in Birmingham to see what was “trending” in equipment & information for Disabled People. Held at around the same time of year annually & it is FREE to visit. @NaidexShow 2025

It's time for politicians and the media to step up and be honest about the role of PIP. Disabled people have been vilified and treated as a drain on the economy for too long. Enough is enough. 3/3

PIP helps with things like personal care, mobility aids, higher heating bills and transport. Misinformation about the role of PIP is damaging, and false narratives are fuelling discrimination and stigma. 2/

🚨 Let’s set the record straight. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is NOT an out-of-work benefit. It's a vital lifeline designed to support disabled people with the extra costs of disability. 1/

Dad @simmondsswis & I were invited to the Consulate General of Ireland, Cardiff today to meet with Kieran O’Donnell TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health & the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage. V/interesting discussions about Irish culture in Wales☘️

Cardiff was awash with yellow & green as @jmsimmonds1 & I made our way to the annual Lord Mayor’s St David’s Day Civic service at St John the Baptist Church, The Hayes. Always a pleasure to join with civic, faith, armed forces & community representatives to mark #StDavidsDay

I visited the Sherman Theatre Cardiff, for a production of #Housemates by the #HijinxTheatreCompany. It tells the remarkable story of an unassuming street in Cardiff in the 1970s where a revolution started in the field of community care / supported living / independent living.

Last Thursday, we visited the @Titanicexhibition at the @ICCWales in Newport. Packed with interesting features & memorabilia, the exhibition told the Titanic story from the point of view of the ship & its passengers rather than just the tragedy of the sinking itself @simmondsswis
