@OldPompeyPics @grahamdubber 84/85 winter was cold and wet and followed by the lousiest summer on record in 1985. Sure your correct about the twice postponed Leeds match too.

@grahamdubber I am certain Leeds h) in 84/85 got postponed twice (that was a treacherous winter). The original Saturday date in Jan-85 was iced/snowed off, then again on a rearranged date in the Feb. Game was eventually played on 12-Mar (3-1).

I’m not certain but I think this is the first ‘postponed-twice-in-a-season’ fixture at Fratton Park for 63 years. #Pompey

Vince Hilaire dives in to level for #Pompey v WBA at Fratton Park early in the 2nd-half, in the 86/87 season. Vince later scored the winner for a 2-1 Div 2 win, on the way to promotion that season. 25-Oct 86 : Att. 11,698 @WBA

@JamesAHogg2 I saw this film at the Cinema in about 1979, pretty sure it was in a double bill with a film about Elton John’s tour to the USSR. Could this be possible

Like the buffoon I undoubtedly am, I'm afraid I missed Ian la Frenais' 90th birthday yesterday. Not that I was invited to the party or anything. I just mean I missed commemorating it by posting something brilliant from his incredible body of work. Anyway, better late than never. One of my absolute favourite sitcom spin-off films is Porridge, which I must watch at least six times a year. It's one of the first films I remember really enjoying as a kid and it gets better with age IMHO. That'll do then. Good evening.

It’s 33 years since this moment of magic from @IanWright0 at Yeovil. The look of despair on that poor keeper’s face. There’s no FA Cup fairytale for him. Sometimes life just kicks you right in the plums.

Watching The Big Match Revisited and thinking how wonderful it would be to see more wingers today like (then) QPR’s Dave Thomas. What a player.

@chrism_wigan @1968Tv Very odd season 81/82. Liverpool lost a number of games up till xmas but then went on a long unbeaten run in new year which led to the title.

Still room for a few more items in this season's Football Room 101, in upcoming #Pompey prog. Open to any football fans, not just the PFC lot. What in modern football would you fling in the bin? The more trivial the better.

@ManningOfficial @Chris_MG Was worried beforehand but I think it was good. I was a child from a navy family in Portsmouth during the original filming and you and jon Pertwee came to meet navy families children and it was so exciting for us kids.

@adarkelimited @bbctms @danroan Is it too old school to suggest the old way of playing a couple of state sides in first class matches before the ashes series start was a better way forward.

@bbctms @danroan Trained too much because they hadn’t scheduled enough actual cricket. But no amount of nets can replicate game time. They got it wrong. Just say it.
