@madwixxy @BethCharleston I suspect he was ‘subtly’ referring to Bob Hawke as head of ACTU in 1973 (and PM in 1985 when Gough launched his memoirs, featured in this video)
English

Gough Whitlam on when he was blackmailed by the ‘Jewish’ lobby in Australia.
Shame no government since has stood up against their blackmail.

@Peter_Fitz An inspirational leader and Doctor. There were about 100 other doctors on the railway. Roy Mills, Peter Hendry, Tom Brereton, Tom Hamilton and many others. All extraordinary. They all deserve to have their stories told. Check out Peter Winstanley’s work and his website.

@Peter_Fitz If you were on the edge of your seat Fitz, I’d probably scootch back a little for now.
Can’t say it’s an impressive thesis.

English

Me, too. And so will my researchers. So far, nothing.
Jane Dymond@JaneDymond1
@Peter_Fitz I’m interested in his reply, will be very interesting to see how he refutes your research

@GongGasGirl @DrRobbieErskine @neumanmd @DrSandman11 @LudwigLin RA was more important when using older diathermy rather than hotwire, and when using glycine solution for irrigation. ‘TURP syndrome’ was much more common, and spinals allowed monitoring of CNS toxicity.
English

@DrRobbieErskine @neumanmd @DrSandman11 @LudwigLin RA vs GA so cultural. A million years ago in NZ, all the men had TuRP with spinal. Then, NHS time - also spinal mostly. Then Australia- offer spinal… pts say ‘do what you like love, just knock me out’.
I tried to give choice but so culturally loaded to GA not really a choice,

@missyjack @sallyrugg The Lamb Ad hasnt mentioned the day for quite a few years. Great ads to go back through and remember what were the issues each year. 2017 my favourite.
English

@sallyrugg At least they dont mention A*lia Day this time! Thats an advance!
English

I regret to inform you that the Australia Day blockbuster lamb ad this year has gone global, and people are understandably confused
Guillaume Huin@HuinGuillaume
i've seen crazy ads in my life but NOTHING compares to this.

@djarlarnbah Well done Josh!! That’s a great Department and you will get great training. Cheers. RK

Thrilled to share that I've landed an Anaesthetics Registrar (Trainee) position in Darwin! Big thanks to those who've guided me - your advice was invaluable. Here's to new challenges and learning! 🎉 #AnaesthesiaJourney

@adambspencer @Peter_Fitz I think the ‘right’ response is to point out that the woke captain only took five out of ten wickets. Barely 50%….for both innings…
English

@Peter_Fitz Some immigrants work in health care - therefore Ireland should have open borders and morph itself from a nation of people with a shared history, customs, norms, culture & social cohesion... into a shared economic zone, a car park with shops, [in which no one can afford a house]
English

@BJAJournals I'm genuinely intrigued to find this isn't a Spoof. I kept reading (in circles and figure8s) waiting to the 'gotcha' moment... it never came.
I'm 100% certain this will not catch on. I'm not a vortex fan- but this is 100% bonkers.
English

Hot off the press!

@GongGasGirl Used both. No great safety difference, and for some anxious patients (eg anxiety) definitely better in the AR, for others (logistical issues) better in the OR. Main reason to have the room is for talking, preparation, blocks etc. Much more efficient than no room at all!!
English

Are anaesthetic rooms safer?
I won’t accept any opinion from anyone who hasn’t anaesthetised patients both in anaesthetic rooms and in the theatre itself ….
(Too easy to think the other thing is weird when you’ve never done it…)
𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢@Anaes_Journal
Only 4% of hospitals had eliminated anaesthetic rooms. Are they still necessary in 2023? We have largely gone back to pre-pandemic practice, but is anaesthetising in the anaesthetic room safer? @NAPs_RCoA @RCoANews @jas_soar @emirakur @doctimcook twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

@DrNatalieSmith1 @twh @Anaesthesia @ac2023 @GongGasGirl Well done Natalie! Very well deserved, and recognition long overdue! 👏👏👏

What a week! Two completely different studies won top paper awards for 2022 this week: the Jeanette Thirlwell award for best paper in AIC, and we've just been announced in the top 10 papers in Anaesthesia . Honoured and humbled.

#QandA Maybe the commonwealth Government could set up their own bank to provide some extra competition…

#QandA Sally McManus’s ability to talk clearly and incisively is awesome!

#QandA Why is Julian Assange in prison for revealing war crimes while PWC execs are unpunished for stealing financially sensitive information?
English

#QandA Chris Masters is deserving praise, but Julian Assange is still in jail for revealing war crimes
English

@richardmdougla1 @BethCharleston @FredSmi35049640 @colonelhogans Indeed. The bravery of those who spoke out is immense.
English

@FredSmi35049640 @colonelhogans If anyone is tempted to conclude this was an indictment on Australian soldiers at large, Masters offered a gentle correction on the steps outside the court, reminding the waiting press pack that it was AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS, who had first brought Roberts-Smith’s WAR CRIMES to light
English

@maffygirl @lotusgav @RCoANews The EMR (and every system) should specify, (separate from legal names), what the patient expects to be called. In scottish cultural tradition, males often go by the second legal name. Famously, Australian Prime Ministers Edward Gough Whitlam and John Malcolm Fraser both did this
English

@NikoSarcevic @LiangRhea Yes, when I was younger and ‘on the way up’. Good advice. I think it is part of development as a speaker. Initially too rigid and nervous, then go through an overconfident/undisciplined phase, then become more disciplined and polished. When I slip back to phase two, disaster!
English

@VillellajJohn @AaronDodd @NevilleBart0s No. It was stopping conscription. In essence, the money spent on two years military service (by those who were picked in the draft) was roughly equivalent to additional spending on university education.
English

@AaronDodd Was it the khemlani loans that paid for the universal education @NevilleBart0s ?
English

PM Goals:
Whitlam - Universal Education
Fraser - More money for rich people
Hawke - Universal Healthcare
Keating - Superannuation
Howard - More money for rich people
Rudd - Apology to Stolen Generations
Gillard - ETS to address climate change
