His mother said, "I was in the office yesterday and they told me he would be home on Sunday. I was so pleased, as I expected a trip lasting a fortnight." Anthony is remembered alongside over 7000 other men recorded as lost from Grimsby trawlers.

His father was reported in the Grimsby Telegraph as saying, "I saw him to the bus the day he sailed and told him to look after himself. Nothing would have kept him from the sea". .

Today we remember Anthony John Speight, lost from this ship 11th May, 1957. The ship was then only a few months into her long career. Anthony was 16 years old and a Decky Learner. He was returning from his second trip to sea. Continues...

Respectfully remembering Ship's Cook, Edward James Pratt, who passed away at sea aboard #RossTiger 40 years ago this week.

Steel deck painting is now complete & scaffolding which has formed a wrap around the ship over recent weeks is starting to be dismantled. Work continues to make the ship ready for public access again. Keep following our social media for updates or visit fishingheritage.com/ross-tiger-vit…

Cooper's Painting Contractors Ltd blasted the steel plating to the main Fish Deck area. Overall, steel looking wonderful, again revealing riveting and rolled strapwork around hatch combings. The blasted deck was again immediately given a coating of protective Jotamastic paint.

This morning, the deck from the starboard quarter up to the trawl winch was then blasted to clean away corrosion, revealing the riveting and the wonderful looking steel plate beneath. The blast material is cleaned away and a coat of protective paint immediately applied.

Coopers Painting Contractors Ltd have arrived to start work on Ross Tiger. This week, they'll be sand blasting the steel deck following the removal of the rotten timber. Follow the works and take a look back at what works have been done so far at nelincs.gov.uk/works-progress…
