Commentators keep talking about Sabalenka getting a biomechanist in to fix her serve, think she should have got a good technical tennis coach in! #notrocketscience

🇸🇦 Rafael Nadal, speaking today, on accusations of ‘sportswashing’, after he was named as an Ambassador for Saudi Arabian Tennis:
“I don't think Saudi Arabia needs me to wash any images. It is a country that has opened up to the world and it is a country with great potential.
Therefore, it is logical that the world is beginning to there and the feeling is that everything is bought with money and that now Rafa has also been sold to money. I understand that people think that they, of course they do.
Are things that need to be improved today [in the region]? Without a doubt. It is a country that is very late in many things, and has only recently opened up a bit.
If the country does not achieve the evolution that I think it has to follow in the next 10-15 years, I will tell you that I was completely wrong.
I think I'm going to have the freedom to work with the values that I think I have to work with and that are the right ones. If it doesn't happen, I'll tell you that I made a mistake.”

@andy_murray Hindsight is a fantastic thing. Maybe Andreeva showed a lapse in mental strength but then how quickly she could reset and how mentally strong she could be…….
English

Andreeva down 5-1 in third. Commentator “she really needs to work on mental side of her game.. she’s too hard on herself when she’s losing”
30 minutes later 7-6 Andreeva wins.
Maybe the reason she turned the match round is because of her mental strength. Maybe she turned the match around because she is hard on herself and demands more of herself when she’s losing/playing badly?
Winner.

@MrPatPrimary @the_LTA It is commonly recognised this was a highly flawed initiative. Devalues professional tennis coaches and gives away equipment that will sit in store cupboards. This should have been 50/50 grant for coaching/equipment!

I think tennis players will resonate with this a lot more than other athletes. For the vast majority of us, we lose every single week… But those losses inevitably turn into lessons that make us better in the long run. Kudos to @Giannis_An34 for enjoying the process 🙌🏾

Giannis Antetokounmpo: It's not a failure, it's steps to success. Michael Jordan played 15 years, won 6 championships. The other 9 years were a failure? It's the wrong question, there's no failure in sports. There's good days and bad days.

@chrispeet11 @Liambroady @BoltonTeam Good performance coaches are often mavericks who think differently and often are ahead of the curve. If everyone says and thinks the same there is no progress it just becomes monotonous regurgitation.
English

@Liambroady @BoltonTeam Been saying this for more than 20 years!! Though as a region we need more than 1 programme and more experienced coaches with performance knowledge to help turn the tide
English

Let’s hope this is part of a wider plan to make tennis more accessible to the almost 3million people of Greater Manchester where public access facilities are almost non existent? Huge sporting city with almost 0 tennis presence. Closest and only performance programme @BoltonTeam
