@donmcgowan He's such an odious grifter. It's plain to see for anyone not wrapped up in his lies. No one gives £5m away to a politician for nothing, you can believe that.
English

If you have a spare 3 mins and 45 secs today, watch this fantastic grilling by Sally Nugent on BBC Breakfast.
The very first time I've seen Farage questioned properly about his £5M bung, and it's fair to say, he totally fluffed it.
There are points when you can see Farage tremble and even accuse the BBC of putting him in danger. 🤦♂️
It was for security. It was for cars. Nobody cares. It's no one's business. He won't tell us. DANGER!
At one point, he let slip that the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards may 'disagree' with him on the rules around donations.
He knows he's going to be found guilty on this one. He's in trouble, and his face gave it away gloriously.
Top hats off to Sally Nugent. Stellar work. 👏

@QuestionUKTime @newolder @buc97552 @ZackPolanski I personally would rather that investment for the north sea be used to expedite renewable/nuclear/energy storage infrastructure instead and we taper off rather than add to non-renewables.
On your supporting domestic manufacturing, and working to compromise I agree wholehearted
English

I agree with that but that doesn't mean you stop investing in the North Sea either.
That would mean better energy security, less LNG from dirty cargo ships too.
I hate the current situation.
Left vs right.
Rather than coming to a conclusion somewhere in the middle.
Aka this is what we need for a thriving economy where we still manufacture things competitively and energy price isn't the restraint, and also the benefit of renewables on energy prices, investment in long term batteries, hydrogen storage, and turbines which we already have knowledge of.
Everything is just this or that.
There's no one smart in politics.
English

@stopclimbFL200 @JayDarkmoore Little point with people like this. They just want to minimise it all anecdotally and have their "gotcha" moment thinking they're smarter than the multitudes of agreeing climate scientists. Rather than admit there is clear long term climate trend of increasing extremes.
English

@JayDarkmoore How hot would it have to get, for you to think, maybe this isn’t just summer.
What would it make you believe, perhaps, they were right?
Genuinely interested.

@QuestionUKTime @newolder @buc97552 @ZackPolanski I agree there's a place for nuclear too and we do need gas to cover the gap until we reach that point with renewables for the record. My point is more we can't just never seek to transition.
English

@QuestionUKTime @newolder @buc97552 @ZackPolanski Good thing chargeable batteries are a thing then for when it's dark/not windy. The problem isn't renewable tech, it's the scaling up of the tech to meet the demand. Or not in isolation... Like investing in tidal, which is even more guaranteed. So they all cover each others gaps.
English

@SamCKx These people aren't interested in data/facts. They just want their "gotcha" comment that makes them feel in the know & superior. Engage those people less repeatedly & instead talk to the undecided lurkers on these threads. Post reputably sourced data that speaks for itself. Leave

This is a textbook example of misunderstanding the argument.
Nobody claims hot weather didn’t exist in 1976. The claim is that as the planet warms, extreme heat events become more frequent and more intense.
Saying “it was hot 50 years ago” is like saying “people died of cancer before smoking existed, therefore smoking doesn’t increase cancer risk.”
And this is from the guy who says a UEFA Pro licensed coach isn't qualified to talk about men's football, because she's a woman, but this clown can tell us all about climate science.
Adam Brooks AKA EssexPR 🇬🇧@EssexPR
The idiots in Parliament are now stating that we can stop this hot weather. There’s nothing we can do to change this. Utter lies. 1976 was just as hot… 50 years ago. Net Zero con.
