On Thursday #StormCiaran is forecast to cross southern England. The track is still a bit uncertain but will bring very strong winds to southern areas. At around 953mb this will likely be the lowest or second-lowest sea level pressure observed in this region in the last 200 years.

Scientists from @UniRdg_GES & @CefasGovUK studied diets & seasonal changes to those of key commercial #fish in the #CelticSea ecoregion. The findings – incl. that herring & horse mackerel have more selective diets – could contribute to #EBFM. buff.ly/3PC5ykk

Just arrived at Stornoway to investigate what seems to be the largest fatal mass #stranding event we've had in Scotland for decades. Over fifty #PilotWhales sadly confirmed dead.

The next few days We will witness 3 harsh heat waves in 3 different Continents with possible historic records. ⬇️ We records trackers will be busy 24/7 and barely have any time to sleep. I'll try to do my best to properly cover those extreme events. Thank you for your support.👌

Unusual algal bloom in North Sea: wider view from #Sentinel3, enhanced colour 3 days to 15 Jun. 2023. Noctiluca scintillans is red horizontal ribbon in middle, murky orange in reality, thx @Rodney_Forster for analysis. More strands nr Netherlands, watch out for bioluminescence!

Finally submitted my PhD thesis, as close to the Celtic Sea as I could be. Followed by a celebratory meal at Mackerel Sky (supervisor recommendation). Thanks to everyone who made this possible, especially @ShovonlalRoy @dictioca @PelticSurveys @SCENARIO_DTP

Dr @ShovonlalRoy @UniRDG_GES developed new code & data - which is freely available - to measure ocean carbon from satellite images. Climate scientists now have a clearer picture of how much carbon is absorbed by our oceans & its implications for #climatechange @UniRdg_OpenRes
