We’re thrilled to share that our Director of Operations, Ann Burnett, has been honored with a 2024 NBOA Professional Achievement Award! Ann is one of just 10 independent school business office professionals worldwide to receive this recognition, celebrating her exceptional contributions to school operations.
For 26 years, Ann’s unwavering commitment, leadership, and care have been the bedrock of Rowland Hall’s facilities and community. Her dedication is truly extraordinary, and this award is a well-deserved testament to her impact.

Last month, student volunteers from Brady Smith's eighth-grade English class ventured north to Idaho to participate in the Wuda Ogwa Planting Days. Now in their second year, the Planting Days are an endeavor by the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation to help restore the land at the site of the Bear River Massacre, one of the deadliest attacks on Native Americans in United States history. The eighth graders were beginning their interdisciplinary unit on Native American history and literature, and partnered with Rowland Hall’s Center for Community Impact to coordinate this wonderful, educational, and highly impactful experience.

Our Lower School Kids of Color affinity group turned their afternoon into a meaningful act of service, assembling peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall. Dozens of Beginning and Lower School students, along with parents and Upper School helpers, worked together to prepare each sandwich, adding a handwritten note of joy to share warmth and encouragement. The sandwiches were then passed along and distributed to unhoused individuals in need. Great job, everyone!
