What if we had a World where politics was to ensure a fair distribution of resources. Health service prevention as well as sickness. Education joy of learning and critical thinking. Business growing people and reinvesting in sustainable products. Society building community. YES !

I learned a lot watching this film. My late father served an engineering apprenticeship with Crosville buses. Nice to see the pride and professionalism in wanting to do the job properly.

@NASAArtemis @NASA . I have a suggestion to better protect your astronauts’ spines when they exit the lunar module into the rescue rib boat… My understanding is an astronaut’s spine decompresses in space, making them slightly taller. In addition they will not have been standing for ten days or more in a gravity environment and will have been seated for several hours having experienced 4G on re-entry, followed by rapid deceleration. Their first experience of standing upright will be in an inflatable rib in a heavy swell, causing the rib to roll, subjecting their spines and discs to movement and pressure. I worked with Grok to design a floor within the rib using electrical actuators to help reduce pressures on the astronauts spines, coupled with grab rails. Perhaps @elonmusk using @Tesla Optimus could build a test rig? Congratulations on a very successful Artemis mission. This system I’ve called ROWROC could also be used in larger @RNLI inflatable rescue rigs.

I noticed today that Forestry England are stockpiling gravel on the old hangar space at the former RAF Beaulieu. I have my own theory on why this is happening 😆

The ongoing farce of Net Zero in practice. ALL New homes should be built to high quality and Passivhaus standards. How to solve? The government should urgently establish a national apprenticeship, so that the three quarters of a million, aged between 18 and 24, currently without work and with few entry level opportunities, could learn a whole range of skills, potentially guaranteeing them a job, as well as helping them build resilience, learn problem solving skills, meet new people and feel a sense of worth. Older craftspeople could enjoy passing on their skills. This isn’t rocket science. It also makes economic sense… The Government could invest the £1 billion per annum it spends on their benefits to pay for the apprenticeship. It’s estimated that closing the gap to the OECD's best performer (e.g., Netherlands NEET rate) could deliver a long-term GDP uplift to the U.K. of up to £86 billion (Youth Futures Foundation). I have friends who were jobless who got trained in ecology via the MSC and VPP government schemes and never been out of work since. It will be a long time before AI and robots can do most of these jobs. On the job training could include: quantity and land surveying, construction, plastering, plumbing, electrical, drainage, carpentry, solar, MVHR and pressure testing architecture, project management, horticulture, soil science, engineering, transport, waste management, sewage treatment, highways, Planning, Development Control CAD design Marketing Business planning Materials science Graphic design Ecology Physics and maths theguardian.com/environment/20…

There is now no difference between the Labour and Conservatives in terms of allowing corporate theft. It’s not greed, it’s theft. Shareholders are literally stealing our money. Nationalise the water industry and pursue the shareholders for our money back with interest that should have been invested in system safety over decades. A charity wouldn’t be allowed to operate with such debts.

I've always found this incredible useful. An easy guide to exactly how much sh*t your local water company is in. Southern Water customer, 27% of your bill it doing nothing but paying interest on their stinking pile of debt. Thames Water, 28%, Anglian Water, 24% and on, and on, and on.......... weownit.org.uk/get-involved/p…

Thanks. I just have done. The big problem with DEFRA’s data is that it’s based on continuous AURN monitoring of PM2.5 and PM10 particulates, but measuring concentrations NOT source. Source is derived from extremely complex atmospheric modelling. DEFRA admits there is a lot of uncertainty in this modelling . Using a wood fuel analogy, with any models, if you feed crap in (wet wood not burned hot at 260 degrees centigrade including secondary combustion of wood gas) you get crap out (smoke containing particulates), statistically unreliable data. In reality there are huge individual and regional differences in wood fuel burning, unlike vehicle emissions for example, which can be more easily modelled.

Only a few days left to tell the government what you think about them yet again lowering the emission for wood burners by 4/5. They are asking for sweeping powers to be able to enter your home, fine you up to £2000 a time and accumulate fines for 'repeat offenders'. Please do take your time (5 mins) to give them your view. I just did!! consult.defra.gov.uk/domestic-burni…

It’s lovely to walk in woods. The challenge for landowners are the complex issues around liability and public expectations, within any working landscape. The Forestry Commission and Woodland Trust are both funded to provide public access and do it well. There have been many successful schemes to fund access within private woodland too, including community forests around some cities. Plus successful schemes to get local people involved in local woods like Coed Lleol, that I set up in Wales 25 years ago that’s still going strong. theguardian.com/environment/20…

The fact that the Government agreed this ‘modest settlement’ of £75k speaks volumes to the rest of normal working people. To help make future decisions, MP’s need to be brought into the real world given we pay their salaries, with contracts of employment, externally monitored targets, no second jobs or lobbying allowed. Ambassadors should receive regular expenses reviews.

Juries are an essential part of our democracy, where we as citizens learn more about the laws that govern our society. We have to step away from our busy lives to think about crime and justice, community, society, and what makes us human. We experience the collective responsibility to debate and deliver a verdict based on evidence that has been tested through a fair trial. We would be a stronger society if we urgently diverted more resources to clearing the backlogs in the courts. Why not fix broken court houses by establishing an apprenticeship system where offenders, as part of their sentence, rebuild and maintain the courts? Learning new skills to help them eventually reintegrate into society. In the U.K. we need a change of mindset from ‘it will never happen’ to ‘let’s make it happen’. Working together for the good of society is incredibly energising. For those who bleat ‘where will the money come from?’, there is plenty wasted every day due to poorly managed projects. I’ve chaired a commercial company and been the CEO of two very successful charities, as well as with others, raised millions of pounds, delivering hugely complex projects, on time and within budget. So, David Lammy, keep the jury system please 🙏

A three year prison sentence will destroy your life, ruin your job, almost certainly wreck your mental health, it will impact your relationships, your children, your parents, your prospects of work, having a home, your good name - and you can’t stick a plaster on any of that.

Your local friendly criminal barrister here! 👋 I need you to know that anything up to a three year prison sentence imposed without a jury trial is really not the same thing as scraping your knee without seeing a consultant.
