Today is the 423rd anniversary of the Union of the Crowns, 24 March 1603, when King James VI of Scotland (who became James I of England) was invited to take the English throne by key members of Queen Elizabeth I's government after the queen's death. It was followed 3 years later by the commissioning of the first Union Flag on 12 April 1606, to be flown from ships' masts 'to avoid contentions at sea'. God save the King!!!

It should have been Wigan at home (the nearest date) but that game had already been committed as a Level Playing Field event. So the date is a bit odd but here we are 🤷

@J56Walsh Yeah I was there too. The press position was against a brick wall that was crumbling. I interviewed Norman Wisdom and he was loving every minute of it. This stadium is like an opposite tardis. Huge on the outside but only holds 22,000.

@RoyCalley Wow, when I went in 2001 it was very different compared to the new ground. Bench seats, uncovered mostly, Norman Wisdom walking around the pitch taking the adulation of the locals, loved it 👍🏻

@RoyCalley I kind of agree in that we haven’t given up horse racing … but we are a generation that was brought up on noise=horsepower - that may change in the coming years

I've loved motor racing since 1977. #F1 is the pinnacle, and it should be fast, it should be so loud your ears ring, and it should tear up the tarmac at 200mph. It shouldn't be an advanced FE series. The planet can survive 24 races, so stop this woke nonsense please.
