I get the frustration, but the bigger issue isn’t just the so-called “slay queens” or elites—it’s that as Zimbabweans we’ve normalized and even rewarded that behavior. People only show off because there’s an audience clapping for it. The same posts that annoy us are the ones getting the most attention, shares, and admiration. We’ve created a culture where perceived wealth—no matter how questionable—is celebrated more than substance, hard work, or integrity.
