There's a great buzz here this morning for today's Specialist Discussion Meetings at Burlington House! At the @RoyalAstroSoc we've got a discussion on ocean bottom geophysics, while at the @geolsoc there's a meeting about extreme stellar populations. 🌊✨

The Caroline Hershel Medal honours the longstanding scientific cooperation between 🇩🇪-🇬🇧 & celebrates outstanding research by women astrophysicists. I'm delighted to present Prof @IsobelHook with this year's medal for her contribution to the study of distant supernovae.

🏅🏅🏅 We've been at the German Embassy in London this evening for the awarding of the 2025 Caroline Herschel Medal to @LancasterUni astrophysicist Professor Isobel Hook. ⤵️

⏰ Time to set those alarm clocks! ⏰ A lunar eclipse will be visible from the UK tomorrow – and no specialist equipment is needed! The fascinating spectacle will begin shortly before 04:00 GMT but the best time to see it will be around 06:20 GMT, before the Moon sets. ⤵️
