@JamesMac_Fit Not a dad here, but a mom. Dad sets the rules on tv time. Sometimes we unplug completely. Weekly movie night. We have 1 tv in the house but have a VCR & dvd player. I’ve procured lots of old vhs movies. Once the flat screen dies, I’m getting an old, small tv - no WiFi.

Dads... I need your advice. As a young dad myself, I’m genuinely worried about my son growing up addicted to screens, phones, games, etc. It feels like EVERYTHING is designed to grab their attention these days. So I want to ask: - How do you actually manage screen time in your house? - What’s worked for you? - What’s failed? Would appreciate real answers from people who’ve been there 🤝

The worst decision in my life as a born and raised Nashvillian? Shutting down Opryland to open a shopping mall they could have built anywhere. Opryland would be even more popular today than it was when I was a kid. Huge whiff by the city. Loved it. Miss it.

There’s a growing trend of parents intentionally raising their kids like it’s the late 90s again. No iPads. No algorithm. Just bikes, VHS tapes, books, outside play, family dinners, and boredom that forces kids to actually use their imagination. Id love to know where they’re getting these VHS tapes?

@revenant_MMXX Exactly. I care immensely about what my kids eat. It shapes their health later on. The boomer pattern is the lack of concern about long term consequences. Food, housing, chemicals, education…everything.

My parents fed me shit quality food when I was a kid and actually allowed me, a child, to make many of my own decisions about my eating habits. I didn't realize how unhealthy I actually was until I started getting bloodwork done and watched it change as I fixed my diet. I won't do that to my kids just to save some money.
MrsPaulHenry 🇺🇸@RozDixie

@revenant_MMXX I’ve always known you pay now or pay later when it comes to food. The later cost is quality of life, time, and hospital bills. It hurts to buy quality food rn but I’m not living on cheap crap until it’s that or literally starving.

"You're irresponsible for eating out." "I don't do that, we cook at home and rarely eat out. It's just way more expensive than before." "What kind of food are you buying?" "Good quality meat, dairy, and produce." "You don't need that, buy this ultraprocessed cheese and bread."
🍊🐔 Erwin The Author@AuthorErwin

@revenant_MMXX Why would you take that personally then? You keep saying you don't need to save money, and then you angrily tell people that you have trouble keeping your money. Everyone is confused as to what you're even trying to make as a point.

@BostonFren_88 Being a SAHM of 3 and homeschooling has BY FAR been the hardest, most rewarding job out of the 10+ yrs I worked in corporate. I look back at those jobs now and I laugh at how easy and boring that was. It’s just not even comparable.

The argument that a woman needs a formal university education in the classics in order to properly nurture and raise children is preposterous, and I don't think half the people that make it even really believe it. They just want what the world wants for women but need to dress it up traditional garb. Only a small fraction of women, and men for that matter, had such training throughout history, yet they somehow managed to raise untold generations of happy, faithful, and capable children. It's certainly good to be educated, but university is not the only way to learn, and not everyone is cut out for it. Moreover the idea that a mother should be the primary educator of her children up to the secondary level is a novel one, necessitated in our time by the collapse of public education and the unaffordability and apostasy of most Christian schools. We should be working to reestablish a robust system of affordable Christian schools which can serve kids up to the varying levels they need instead of sending women to NSA so they can teach their sons calculus and Greek when they already have more than enough domestic duties to manage without being an educational polymath.

Our chief political fight in the next ten years is going to be prying the Boomers' extraordinarily disproportionate and entrenched political power out of their fingers, to keep them from sabotaging us on their way out. Exceptions notwithstanding, Boomers have sold the homes they inherited, leaving their children homeless. We can't let them do on a national scale what they've done to their own children. They're making decisions and setting policies with no regard for what will happen when they're gone. It's time to take the keys away from grandpa.

@AgroNationalism This is the most coherent approach to the multiple problems we face. Get enough boomers to repent, get enough to die off, and the rest will fall in line or be irrelevant. They are what’s holding progress up for the rest of us. Massie primary is the perfect illustration.

Further meditations about Naming The Boomer: Most boomers are so effectivly propagandized that they can't fathom that they've done anything wrong. Until they are convicted of their sin, they cannot repent. Without repentance, they cannot change their behavior. This is not complex stuff, basically Christianity 101. So by deploying counter propaganda against the boomers as a whole, we are waking up the ones who genuinely want to be on the right side of history, of God and the American people. Naming The Boomer creates conditions where millions of good boomers wake up and say "No! Not me! I'm an individual, not one of those bad ones!" This is good. It means they want an opportunity to prove that they're not like the rest. What we are trying to do here as a movement is stimulate something called Elite Breakaway. Elite Breakaway is kind of like scratching a line into a piece of glass, which allows you to cleanly snap it off with some pressure. Elite Breakaway happens when a grassroots movement shows enough potential for success that a cohort of disaffected elites silently split off from the hegemonic power and take their capital and network to the underdog competitor, the grassroots movement. An example of this happening is the Republican party and the Whigs. Ol' Abe Lincoln and other young radicals split off, proved they were serious about winning, caused a catastrophic split in the Whig party that destroyed it and gave the new Republican party enough control to win the election and launch a war. The point is, there are a lot more rich and powerful boomers on our side than we realize. They continue to throw in with the hegemon because capital ownership limits you: they will lose everything if they publically dissent. A swinging monkey does not let go of the vine until it has another in its hand. These boomers(and their Gen X successors) WILL join and fund our cause if we can prove to them that we have a chance of winning.
VanRaalte, Agro-Nationalist@AgroNationalism

Boomer polemics aside, older people have NEVER, EVER been allowed to retain their political/leadership status as a generation once they became so old they can't provide for themselves. Age changes incentives. Elders are supposed to advise the actual leaders, not be leaders themselves. It'd be one thing if we had age limits on elected officials so boomers could only vote. Then they'd be voting for a younger candidate. It'd be another thing if accepting social security meant giving up your voting rights. Then they'd still be able to run for office, but they'd have to cater to younger voters. But right now it's clear that without those provisions, the elderly just vote for elderly candidates to protect elderly interests.

@shawngorham @mythanthrope It broke down right before I had baby no 3. Massive bill to fix it and still had more issues. Had to sell it for less than what we paid to repair it. I go without a vehicle for 6 months while we searched for a newer minivan that drained our savings (again) and sanity. Thx mom/dad

@shawngorham @mythanthrope So true. Here’s a fun one: My boomer rich parents gave me a gas guzzling 10yr old suburban with engine problems, an oil leak, AND wanted us to pay them “something” for it. It was initially going to be a gift. We had to trade our reliable, but older Sequoia to them instead.

I forget who said it but a post said "buying my 30 year old daughter with 3 kids a mini van has a bigger impact in her life than $300,000 when I am dead" (something like that) I have never stopped thinking about it and will use that as a compass as my kids get married, have kids, buy houses etc.
DOQ@doqholliday

If you're a boomer in your 60s and 70s and you own property and are well off but your children are struggling and can't even buy a home, what the hell are you doin? Your time is over. It's their time. Help them. Be a good parent, do whatever it is you need to do... sell the house if you need to, give them some kickbacks to help buy their first home, etc. Life is short. Be a good parent and don't squat on stuff that doesn't matter. Give them their time.

@zeta_globin I did this with my younger brother. His reasoning for not getting married and having kids was that it interferes with his vacationing. I asked him if his cat was going to take care of him when he’s 80.

@MissB53 Ah thank you! I also just found the Marketside 80/20 ground beef that is grass fed and finished (shocked!) with the same red label. Walmart has surprised me.

One thing I really wish more carnivore creators talked about is accessibility. Not everybody can afford grass-finished ribeyes every day. Not everybody has a local regenerative rancher down the road. Not everybody has the money, time, energy, or mental bandwidth to build the “perfect” carnivore diet overnight. A lot of people trying to heal are exhausted, inflamed, metabolically damaged, financially stressed, and coming from YEARS of dieting and food obsession. That’s why I teach budget carnivore. Because healing your metabolism does NOT require perfection. Today’s meal: 4 eggs, butter, ghee, and a jumbo beef frank from Walmart. About $2.50 total. Around 90g of fat. About 35g protein. Keeps my insulin stable, keeps me full for hours, and gives me steady energy instead of blood sugar chaos. Would grass-finished regenerative meat be amazing? Sure. But I’d rather see someone heal eating affordable ground beef, eggs, butter, and hot dogs than stay trapped in ultra-processed food because they think carnivore has to look aesthetic and expensive to “count.” Start where you are. Your body is still listening. 👑

@TiffaniMarie483 I let go of deep cleaning. I can maintenance clean and somewhat keep up with laundry. I plan to do organizing projects over the summer while I’m not homeschooling and hire someone to deep clean 4x a year. Just can’t do it all!
