Disappointing for Liverpool and some familiar failings. They’ve lost their authority this season. Lost their cohesion. Lost much of their defensive resilience. Arguably, lost their way. More Liverpool players need to raise their game as Dominik Szoboszlai does week in, week out. And Arne Slot needs to believe in Rio Ngumoha more; final ball needs a bit of work but he’s a threat. Slot is a good manager, and has credit in the bank etc, but he has to show/prove he can guide Liverpool out of this lengthy period of stagnation #MUNLIV

Arne Slot on things to work on for next season: "The margins are not so big on us being able to win a game like this, I know what we can improve on and we are already working hard on this. The same issues keep coming back which is not a huge surprise as you don't have long to fix it during the season. MacAllister summary. Masses last season would have told you he’s one of the best midfielders in the league and better than a Guimarães because he won a league title. Means nothing, he was never that good. People overvalued someone like MacA, and undervalued Szoboszlai & Trent.

To explain Alexis MacAllister, I need to refer to Bruno Guimarães. As an elite team, if you want to max out the potential of this role that MacA plays as a 2nd/3rd phase connector & progressive passer, Guimarães would be the minimum level of duelling, ground coverage & 360 degree press resistance you’d want in that role. And interestingly that is exactly who Edwards wanted after Wijnaldum left.

The parallels of keeping Slot beyond this season is giving Rodgers surviving 14/15. It’s so obviously a bad decision, & everyone around the club being resigned to this fate is worrisome. He hasn’t fixed a damn thing in the last 18 months tactically but magically nxt ssn he will?
