Everybody wants news on Sei Giga. We're working on it and pretty soon we'll have a big announcement to share. The Giga upgrade is immensely complicated. Right now the team is focused on the final technical hurdle before Giga: SIP-3. To make something faster, you either have to add power or reduce weight. To make something a lot faster, you do both. In simple terms, that's what the SIP-3 upgrades will accomplish. They will dissolve Sei’s dual EVM + Cosmos architecture and make Sei an EVM-only chain. The code changes for implementing SIP-3, which the Sei ecosystem approved last May, are enormous. We are removing literally hundreds of thousands of lines of code. Over the coming months the last of these upgrades will go live, largely rounding out the implementation of SIP-3. By mid 2026 Sei will be an EVM-only chain, where only EVM addresses will be able to initiate transactions. This doesn't sound exciting, but it has huge implications: once SIP-3 is implemented, Sei Giga comes next. Two important things to note for Sei users: If you hold USDC.n, you need to swap into native USDC or risk losing access to your assets. If you rely on other IBC assets, plan to unwind and move them off of Sei ahead of the SIP-3 rollout to mainnet.
