is it just me or is it extremely uncomfortable when a stranger wants to DM to “get to know eachother”?? 😭😭 i get SUPER uncomfortable chatting with strangers in private. it’s the worst way to get to know me because i’ll be anxiously masked the entire time.

@RubyVoxx i don’t like it. i literally have so many friends that i just made naturally through stream chatting. like you can get to know your fellow chatter this way!!! i’ve literally become friends with other chatter bc we have chemistry IN PUBLIC. and then maybe in the future we dm.

also i think it's important to note that someone wanting to make friends doesn't automatically make them comfortable with private conversations with strangers, nor does it make anyone entitled to expect that from them. people are different. i would never expect someone to just come sit privately in a room with me and talk just to make friends... I do that in public spaces and i find it exponentially easier- both to get to know someone, and to be able to unmask so people can get to me.

I mean it is. But also how else to you ask to be friends and get to know people… so many people say they want friends then have this exact feeling in DMs…. And never reply to people and just keep posting… and idk… all friends were strangers at one point. We’ve all become so isolated… it’s just weird… it’s ok to be guarded usually I just tell people “I take some time to warm up to people but I’m down” Idk. I’m just very tired of the “I want friends” then this is how they feel getting messages is super sad tbh.

there are countless other ways that dont involve forcing someone to have a private conversation with a complete stranger. like, countless, truly. discord servers, at least 5 popular social media platforms to engage with one another [like you're doing right now], games, collabs with other creators if you're a creator- if you think the ONLY way to get to know another person is to drag them into private where it may feel unsafe for them... idk, i hope you find other ways.
