@ad_petersvgc @PqlarBear Me gustaría poder aprender a ser un mejor jugador de vgc no se si podamos hacer grupo para mejorar en el competitivo.

Creo que todos al ver un nuevo campeón del mundo coronarse, nos activa esa llama competidora. El gran @PqlarBear nos dejó un hermoso mensaje durante la transmisión: a nunca rendirnos. Dicho eso, les voy a dejar un post medio largo sobre que estoy pensando respecto a la temporada VGC 2026. Si les gusta lo que suelo escribir, les prometo que valdrá el tiempo 🖊️: Primero que nada, existe una expectativa ENORME por lo que puede representar Pokémon Champions. Pero por justas razones, no me quiero emocionar mucho porque una pequeña parte de mi sospecha que Ecuador, o no tendrá Champions disponible, o si está disponible, no tendremos torneos locales. Lo que me lleva al siguiente punto: que difícil es crear comunidad cuando no hay soporte de Pokémon. Lo cual me entristece mucho, porque una comunidad activa, primero, fomenta el juego, amistades, memorias y rivales. Y segundo, un jugador es tan bueno como su comunidad. Un patrón que he notado en la comunidad, es que un pilar angular para el éxito de los jugadores top, es tener un “team building” y “testing” group. Si bien existen docenas de fabulosos Coaches (y realmente los recomiendo, porque SI ayudan a mejorar), no es lo mismo a tener un grupo sólido donde intercambiar ideas orgánicamente y constantemente. Lo vimos en esta final: ambos finalistas testearon y practicaron el matchup con jugadores elite en cada lado. Y para conformar sus equipos lo mismo: horas y horas trabajando en equipo para pulir los 6 Pokémon que llevarían al mundial. Y claro, para llegar a formar parte de esos grupos, es imperativo primero demostrar que eres un buen jugador. Aquí es donde la auto-enseñanza y el Coaching forman una parte integral para llegar a aquello. Ojo: no digo que sea NECESARIO tener grupos de team building y testeo para tener éxito. Lo hemos visto en algunos ejemplos. Pero VGC al ser un juego de información, es mucho más probable triunfar con un grupo de apoyo. Y esto me lleva a un último pensamiento: si bien va a ser difícil competir este año para mi (estoy planificando mi boda 😍) aspiro a seguir creciendo como jugador. Para que cuando llegue el momento al que pueda ir al siguiente major, poder finalmente quitarme este sinsabor y demostrar el jugador de VGC que puedo ser. Así que si alguien allá afuera lee esto, y quiere adoptar a un apasionado del VGC como yo en su grupo: aquí estoy! Paralelamente esta temporada 2026 haré un esfuerzo enorme por revivir la comunidad VGC de Quito. Ya estamos tomando los primeros pasos para lograrlo. Y eso! Si llegaste hasta aquí, gracias como siempre por leerme. Tengo fe que Champions ayudará a reconstruir esta comunidad. Pero hasta tanto, nos estamos viendo!

@vgccorner Sometimes I do have a lot of free time depending on the day... but sometimes when I have a long bad streak of defeats it gets very discouraging and I think it's better to leave it there. 😐

VGC Quick Tip: Growth Hack With Replay Analysis I had two separate people this week ask me how to stop plateauing. "I feel like I'm not as good as I used to be" "I can't get any higher on ladder" The thing is, Pokemon is an information game. If you know more information than your opponent, you will probably win more times than them. The best way to improve if we had unlimited time would be playing Pokemon Showdown 24/7 and immersing ourselves on ladder. More reps = more experience = more information = free wins. Simple math. Unfortunately, this is not realistic for everyone. Part of getting older is having more responsibilities in life, which unfortunately means less Pokemon grind time. But there is another way to improve faster by using Replay Analysis. Back to my clients. Knowing both of my clients are adults without as much time on their hands, I figured replay analysis would be the best option for them. I asked them if they save and review their replays. Both times I got something close to this response: "Of course, I just don't know what to look for" So, in this post, I'm going to be going over what to look for when analyzing replays. Here's what the process looks like in 3 steps: 1. Load up replay (replay.pokemonshowdown.com) 2. Pause the game on each turn (including team preview) 3. Think about every viable option on the turn and figure out different possibilities. This process focuses on exploring other options. There have been countless times where in the moment, I feel like I played perfectly. Maybe my opponent "won a few 50/50's". This is now the time when I can see if that was true. Maybe my lead was wrong, or maybe my game plan was flawed. The point is that reviewing replays with a clean slate of mind can show other paths that could have been taken. PRO TIP: Use @BauerdadVGC's PASRS document (his pinned tweet) to log replays. Seriously, this document is worth its weight in gold and is a free resource. Now, here's the hard part: Learning from replays It's easy to watch replays and think "I could have done X" "I could have lead Y" "Ok, we go next" Sometimes you may have played fine but the matchup was poor. Other times you may have gotten outplayed and lost from play alone. So here are the 3 things I focus on learning from: 1. Team Preview / Planning. How was your gameplan? Did you fall apart in lead? What about your back 2 pokemon? Did they lack the power to close out the set? 2. Plays / Reads. Did you get the reads wrong in a matchup where you need to nail them? Did you go for an unnecessary read and give your opponent a chance to win? 3. Team. Maybe your team has a hole that can not be patched? Is it worth selling the matchup? Do you think you can learn to beat if if you were to play it again? So going forward, if you have unlimited time on your hands, playing ladder all day is the best way to improve. But if you're like most people who don't have a lot of free time, replay analysis is the next best thing. Make sure you're looking for the right things and learn something from every loss.
