Our final full day in Modesto. ❤️🇺🇸 Yesterday we spent some time with the wonderful @MargeleyB We went to @Costco. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a membership yet because we don't have a permanent address, but we absolutely loved what we saw and we'll definitely be signing up as soon as we can. She took the time to show us around, answer all our questions, and made us feel so welcome. Then she surprised our family with dinner at @fuziomodesto, including dessert. ❤️ Oh my goodness... the food was incredible, and the dessert was even better! As if that wasn't enough, she also arranged and paid for our shuttle to the airport today. The kindness we've experienced from Americans since arriving has honestly left us speechless. Time and time again, God has placed incredible people in our path exactly when we needed them. @MargeleyB, thank you for your generosity, your friendship, and your servant's heart. You truly are a patriot, a woman of God, and a blessing to everyone who knows you. If anyone is looking for a realtor in the Modesto area, I couldn't recommend her more highly. Today we say goodbye to Modesto. Thank you for being our first American hometown. We'll always remember our first week here with gratitude. Texas... here we come! 🤠🇨🇱➡️🇺🇸❤️

I am fine with the white bread, and actually enjoy that with both hamburgers and hot dogs sometimes. It's actually peak to use with really good BBQ sandwiches, particularly chopped brisket. The cheaper the white bread the better BTW. Although not my first choice, I could even handle mayo on my hot dogs if it was spread on the bread, but just clumps of it like in the photo makes me ill.

⚠️ UPDATE: An assessor from Spangler Restoration just came out to assess the issue. They wouldn't tell us it's not mold but they'll be cleaning all of it if the estate signs off. Hopefully it would be sorted after that. They'll also be cleaning at our American neighbors next door. We're so happy there is a possibility that we can continue to stay here, mold- or as they put it, "organic matter"-free. If my "whining" helps protect my son's health and that of Americans, it's a win in my books. Things are happening! I'll keep you guys posted. 🙏🙏🙏

Well, I have officially completed everything I can on the Refugee program. It is truly in God's hands now. I have submitted every document requested, completed the medicals, and now the wait begins. This process has been unbelievably difficult for many different reasons. There were moments of hesitation, reflection, and doubt. It wasn't about whether it was the right decision, but rather about leaving my son behind in the interim or having to consider that I may never see people I truly love again. I leave behind a home that is all I have ever known. These are not decisions made lightly, so with this, I leaned heavily into my faith and into prayer. I have to make this choice because a great deal is dependent on it. A future already stolen, and one that is even more uncertain if staying in South Africa. However, I have come to terms with knowing that God is in control. The doubt, the anxiety, the fear, the hesitation for doors to open or close are all part of a greater scheme from one that seeks to destroy and bring everything that's not from God. John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." The thief isn't just Satan, but also false narratives, fear mongering from media, and "social media influencers". They try to distract you, create doubt and fear. They paint pictures of a broken America, while completely focusing on the already broken and near-collapse of South Africa, with almost no end in sight for its deterioration. The test is trusting in God, regardless of the outcome. If I get to go to the US, I am blessed. If God commands me to stay, I am still blessed, just not as I thought it would be. That is the test. Still trusting God even when the breakthrough isn't what I expected. Will I be sad if I am not accepted into the program? Yes, absolutely, but my faith is stronger than my feelings. It is bigger than my heart's desire. Isaiah 40:31: "But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary; they will walk and not faint." and Proverbs 3:5: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." So America, I may or may not be joining, but regardless of the outcome, know that I am grateful for having had this opportunity. I am grateful that you have already welcomed many of us who have landed on your shores. Keep them safe, be kind to them, and pray diligently for them, as they will give so much in return for what you have done for them. In God I trust. In Faith I rise. In Jesus' Name, I praise.

We did it! Yesterday our whole family passed our medical exams with flying colors! We’re so happy, grateful, and excited for the next step toward our American Dream. @PieterVand37940 $1800.00? You should have reached out to Americans for advice. My daughter left a violent relationship. I fully furnished a 4 bedroom house from silverware to furniture for 600.00. Between Facebook market place, estate auctions and garage sales I made it happen.

We were told "Other Assistance" was a bed, couch, desk, TV stand, dining room table and kitchen ware, of which the bed was the only new item. Definitely not worth half of $1832.44! We also received a second hand phone that belonged to someone else before and had to buy our own phone plan after the first month. When asked about it we were told the requirement was they should give us a phone so they can get hold of us. Yet their own paperwork said they will supply us a 3 month phone plan. At the end of the 3 month assistance we were told what these items cost. The prices were crazy, we decided arguing was useless and signed their paperwork so we could move on with our lives. But it is wrong to exploit the funding given for resettlement of refugees. It was wrong then, it is wrong now. Again, don't get me wrong. We are grateful for the program, grateful for all the assistance we received. But when you see something you should say something. Even now the new refugees are not receiving fair and just treatment from the resettlement agency....... in fact, it is getting worse. They are not assisted with bus tickets and are expected to buy their own. It is sad that things are going the way it is going. Truly sad. All we want is a fair chance for our people, future American patriots, to get on their feet and self sustainability. I feel that so many refugee agencies make it their goal to make them suffer. 🚨 It sounds terrible but it is true. If we did not intervene many a family would have gone hungry over a weekend because their agents either has no idea what they are doing or they are blatantly ignorant to their human needs.

Day 6 in America. 🇺🇸❤️ Yesterday was another day of exploring. First stop: Dollar Tree. I think I finally understand why everyone loves it. 🤣 Almost everything was either $1.25 or $1.50! It took every bit of self-control not to buy the whole store... but then I remembered we still have to fit everything into our luggage. 😂 We did pick up some paper plates though. Less dishes to wash while we're living in the motel. 😅 We also grabbed a few chips and cookies. Next, we popped into Five Below to look for phone cases and US charger plugs before wandering through Goodwill, where my son found a really cool T-shirt. Back at the motel we had some ramen noodles for lunch... ...and then the day got even better. We were invited to the Stanislaus County Fair by @RuggerJay and his family. They are such lovely, kind and generous people. Thank you for spoiling our family with such an amazing evening. It was wonderful getting to meet you all and make new friends. The kids absolutely loved the unlimited rides. I honestly don't think my daughter wanted to leave. 😂 We had burgers and what they called a brick of fries. Now the burgers weren't unusually big... but that brick of fries?! 🤣 There were enough fries for all five of us and we still couldn't finish them! The fair itself was enormous, bigger than any fair we've ever been to. Then we watched Portuguese bloodless bullfighting. Oh. My. Word. At first I thought those poor guys were about to get flattened by the bull... 🤣 Then I realized it was a traditional sport. I still can't believe they willingly stand in front of a charging bull! Those people must have more courage than anyone I know. What an incredible show! To top it all off, we ordered another Uber back to the motel... ...and the exact same Ford Expedition from our movie night pulled up! 🤣 We got to ride home in luxury once again. Every day here brings another surprise, another laugh, and another reason to be grateful.❤️🇺🇸

Thank you, America, for another unforgettable evening! 🇺🇸 We were warmly invited by the absolute legend @RuggerJay to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, and what a night it turned out to be. The kids had an absolute blast! From the moment we arrived, it was pure spectacle. The bullfighting was completely new to us we got a proper scare at first because we didn’t realize they have to catch the bull! For a second it looked like the bull was going to run straight through them by accident 😂. The rides were massive and never-ending the kids went on almost everything and loved every second of it. We enjoyed some seriously delicious burgers, soaked in the lively atmosphere, and had great chats comparing life in America and South Africa. Another brilliant day in the USA. It’s GREAT to be home! ❤️
