@SofiaMakieva The number of embryos may also be considered as an important surrogate for prognosis in the decision process. #ESHREjc If there were only one CC blastocyst resulting from a retrieval cycle, would you discard it if the age of the patient were 32? 42?

Factors like female age can influence the decision too, for example if and older patient has only one blastocyst of very poor quality and you know this is their last chancd, you dont discard it. However, if the quality is poor is more likely to degenerate post warm #ESHREjc

@MicahJHillDO @SCSMonash Thanks Micah. In some clinics, low grade blastocysts are routinely discarded due to concerns about worse perinatal outcomes. This policy needs to be reconsidered. Hope it makes sense now.

@RuiWangMD @SCSMonash Good study. What do you mean by “reconsider discarding embryos”? We’ve long known low quality blasts make healthy pregnancies, but at a singnificantly reduced likelihood. Just tying to understand the main point you are making in the post. Thanks!
