In 2011 I launched Ruling Sports as a sports law blog. Since, I've written for major publications, interviewed top athletes and saw the ins-and-outs of sport. Now, I'm reimagining Ruling Sports. The trailer for my new podcast, Ruling Sports, is live: open.spotify.com/show/0kVjW83A5…

I’m sad to learn of the passing of Dean Prilleltensky. Dr. Prilleltensky hired me for my first academic role at the University of Miami. He was supportive of my work and understood when I told him it was time for me to return to CA. Sending his loved ones my condolences.

1. Timing & structuring the deal to ensure approval by the College Sports Commission; and 2. Ensuring the partnership doesn't violate exclusivity rights granted by the athlete elsewhere (increasingly schools are carving out exclusive categories in revenue sharing contracts).

Thank you, @Jumpman23, for inviting me to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Space Jam at the Warner Brothers lot! Not only is it one of the greatest sports films of all-time, it is was a formative piece of pop culture in my childhood. And now it’s in Dolby Atmos!

Ted Turner not only changed media distribution and consumption, he was one of the United States’ largest private landowners, using that power to foster conservation and help species and biodiversity. May he RIP.

When I’m home in Denver my dad & I sit down each weeknight to watch the @11thHour with @SRuhle. When I’m in LA, it’s a topic of our morning calls. We both love Stephanie & the show, so it was a lovely surprise to meet her at the Milken Global Conference today! Ty’s year is made.

Outcome of the current youth sports system: when parents shell out this much money for kids’ athletic pursuits, they expect financial results—scholarships, NIL deals, pro contracts. For most kids, these are impossible outcomes, even with six-figures paid to play youth sports.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

NEW: Youth sports is now costing parents as much as $25,000 a year. Private equity and corporations are turning a childhood pastime into something only the wealthy can afford. Youth sports has become a $40 billion industry, and the steep costs are crushing American families.
