@EHuanglu It works when you don't have feedback from a client. Especially when the client wants micro changes, such as, remove 10 theeth from the mouth but especific teeths and move the character 5 pixels to the left.

@MichaelG_3D I'm in a similar boat. I have been working on a small VFX shop for the last 14 years. Doing 3D and motion graphics. Now is not doing to well and it is the only company that left where I live. So, I'm super scared of being laid off. I hope it get better.

I feel like I’m kind of sabotaging myself in getting a job in the industry. I haven’t been working on my portfolio as much as I should because I’m scared I am wasting my time. If I do get an offer somewhere near LA how do I move and what if I get laid off after 6 months then I’m stuck in LA. I also have a girlfriend who has a job in our area. It’s just something I keep thinking about and I’m not sure what to think, I also don’t want to be at my current job the rest of my life making minimum wage

@Mega_sean Yeah I feel the same. I started working on VFX and commercials at 25. Now I’m 39 and I don’t feel like a senior. There is too many talented artist everywhere so I feel like a Junior. Especially when I look the ArtStation trending section.

@Nick_Marseil I’m on the edge to buy the DLC but I’m not sure if I want to pay $55 CA to be tortured or getting frustrated. I might wait for a sale.

@jadel4w That is way more than I used to make in Chile. Back in 2008 I used to make 200 dollars a month. That was minimum wage at the time.

The sad reality is that $10 isn’t much to some but it’s a lot to others. The job is listed as “work from anywhere”. In the developing world this is great money, and with a global market this is who you’re competing with for jobs. The solution? Provide a higher quality service. Not just your art but how you organise, communicate and deliver. Higher quality demands a higher price. People who value quality will always pay appropriate rates. Don’t get involved in race to the bottom work. Don’t let them drive down your value.
