I still believe that the main objection to encrumbance in D&D and other TTRPG's is that there are only downsides for the players when using it.
What are some possible ways to provide bonuses for smart use of encumbrance?

The text only site has been incredibly useful to stay up to date, know how to access resources. Even with better cell coverage, I really love it! Please consider keeping it around!
What are the best multi-genre retro games? Mini-games and minigame collections don't count. A linear game that has 3+ genres the player must engage with to beat the game. Obvious examples for me: Bayou Billy, Golgo 13, Misadventures of Tron Bonne
I dislike how often cabbage is excluded from the top veggies discussion despite the fact that, outside of the US, it's basically a staple food. Raw, pickled, steamed, fried, as stuffing, as a binder, in a salad, etc. I am cabbage's strongest warrior.
@PrismaticWastes Also got a one-pager draft that’s roll under stat but over difficulty. Nat 1 is crit fail, roll=attribute is a crit hit (nailed it), and a nat 20 means you screwed up really bad but it still somehow worked better than if you’d succeeded conventionally (Mr. Bean style crit).
@PrismaticWastes I have a draft game that used the same solution. Roll over to overcome your feebleness/clumsiness/stupidity. Was trying to figure out a way to have high rolls *always* be good for the player, incoming damage was kind of a snag, though.
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
Why would people who use AI to replace your job expect you to not just use AI for theirs?
Why would they expect you to think they don’t also use AI for theirs?
Shortsighted and foolish stance.
PS I won’t hire AI “creators.” Ever.
I'm a little hesitant to say this again but I will...the big indie success stories of that period were simply competently made games with almost no competition. I dont think any of them would have been successful if they had to release for the first time today...
@jasoncordova6 Left wing activists have had the system stacked against them since the green scare (and earlier). In response, lots of organizing and action has shifted towards the symbolic vs the material. Right orgs/militia largely got a free pass since ruby ridge/waco, and embraced by GOP
We're watching a stunning takeover of America's political and civic life. It's happening because right-wing activists play for keeps, left-wing activists play for likes, and Democrats play by the rules.
@VeilsEdgeGames But much more common than a royal flush is *almost having a royal flush*.
Being close, yearning towards the impossible is *exciting* and 100% impacts your experience of play.
@VeilsEdgeGames Sure… but I assure you that in every form of poker a royal flush is still exceedingly rare (except poker dice, I guess). Yet almost everybody knows about it, even folks who have never played poker.
@travisdhill Hope it works for you!
I relate to both parts of this a lot. I’ve tried to record ideas digitally but I automatically go into edit-while-I-write mode, which makes it hard to just get the dang ideas down. Been trying audio memos (organized by project folders) lately.
