Alex 10k Nominated for the Most Improved Race in Gauteng Starting off as an 8km Find Your Fit Fun Run in 2023 and graduating to an official 10km race in 2024, with 1400 participants. In 2025 the participation numbers would have doubled, if we had not capped the participation numbers at 2500. In 2026 the registration numbers were again capped at 3100, leaving a lot of people desperate for an entry, but the capping was necessary to properly manage the event's growth. The organizing of the Alex 10K has received overwhelming praise. Given the space challenges that the community of Alexandra faces, to pull off an event that has so many people without a single incident can only happen because the community is pulling together. The running community has recognized all these efforts, growth and meticulous planning, it is for this reason that the Alex 10K has been nominated as the *"Most Improved Race"* for the Gauteng RunnerAwards GP . ALEX IS READY! ARE YOU? History is being made right here in Alexandra— IkhayaLethu . On Saturday, 2 May 2026, the Altrec Sports Complex becomes the beating heart of Gauteng athletics as we hosts the Central Gauteng Athletics XC league 1, which will be the official opening of the 2026 season. Another first for our community. To the people of Alex and the surrounding areas, we are calling on you. Come out and line the course. Cheer on the runners. Bring your energy and bring your family. Whether you are from Alex, Marlboro, Wynberg, Lombardy, Bramley or beyond- this is your event. Athletes from all age groups will be competing, and they need the roar of the community behind them 🙂. Let us show our awesome visitors what Alex hospitality looks like. On the Day: Athletes entry is R20. Spectators pay R30 at the gate. Temporary licences for unregistered athletes will also be available at R30. Results and timing will be handled by Peak Timing, ensuring accuracy and swift publication after the race. Athlete will follow the attached program in the comments section.
