Porsche’s 917 was so fast, that the car became unstable at high speeds, and even lifted off the ground by acting like an airplane wing
This was extremely dangerous, it was too difficult to handle Hans Mezger’s incredible engines.
A fix made by John Horseman, adjusted the long-tail design to a short-tail, helped create the downforce needed to maintain control at high speeds.
