@AldiUK how is it that if I chop this Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni into 4 equal pieces to eat, I consume more calories than eating it in one go?

What is it about the little boy who lives down the lane that entitles him to same level of service as the Master and the Dame from respected local wool merchants?

Just listened to another physical pentest story on Darknet Diaries (ep 59). Is my perception skewed by listening to the podcast or is it much more common in US than UK?

Great to be at #CodemotionMadrid23 - looking forward to talking about post-quantum cryptography later this morning.

Code reviews are redundant. They're like discussing which ingredients to cook with when the meal's already on your plate.

Why are people on #bbcqt using phrases such as "...Brexit that was imposed on us..." when this was a UK wide poll? According to that logic, is it acceptable for any sub-unit of any given polity to reject the democratic whole on the basis that "We / I didn't vote for it"?

Brilliant to see @SkySport showing the Women's Test match from Taunton on Main Event while it rains in Leeds. I'm sure in previous years we'd have been watching men talking about what might happen when the sun comes out. Fantastic work.

@garybernhardt One failure in a million test runs makes that a flaky test. I say fix it, it's broken.

A test failed in CI. It wanted to see "Your next charge will be on 2022-06-30" but it saw "... on 2022-07-01" and failed. That assertion happened to run at midnight UTC. The page render and assertion were ms apart, but happened on different dates. I guess... everything is fine?

@venkat_s But only if all parties see it that way. It only takes one participant willing to carve the estimate in stone for any trust benefit to evaporate.

Providing an estimate is more of an act of building trust than a chore of enabling deadlines.

@ctford I think that is (valuable but) not the first class lesson from such things. I think the first class lesson should be that the rarer you deploy, the harder it is to deploy, and the harder it is to fix things. Your point naturally follows. :)

Even if you don't buy the system effects of small frequent deployments, security vulnerabilities like #Log4Shell demonstrate that sooner or later a rarely deployed system becomes a vulnerable system.

When a weather forecast says, say, 90% rain, does this mean there is a 90% chance we'll see some rain or does it mean that it is likely to be raining for 90% of the (unclearly defined) time interval?

Sitting in the waiting room at the Dr with the kid and the woman at the desk calls out "Baggett? Baggett?" My first impulse was to yell back, "No Bagginses here!"
