Had BJP deployed even half as many Central Force personnel to Manipur as they have to Bengal for elections, this ethnic violence would not have been allowed to rage on for three years.

Yesterday, the Bombay High Court discharged four men accused of carrying out the 2006 Malegaon Blasts. The accused all allegedly belonged to Abhinav Bharat. The explosions claimed 31 lives and injured 312. The blasts specifically targeted Muslims. Yet, maybe out of habit, the investigation agencies first arrested nine Muslims, who were eventually acquitted in 2016. In yesterday’s order, the High Court criticised the NIA for its botched investigation. Is the NIA going to appeal the order before the Supreme Court? Highly unlikely. This is a betrayal of all the victims and their families. This will be yet another terror attack where we will not even see its perpetrators being punished. To be a Muslim in India is to only wait for justice. This case has followed a similar trajectory to the 2008 blasts case. Rohini Salian, NIA’s prosecutor was on record saying that NIA asked her to go soft on the accused.

DATA SCAM BY ELECTION COMMISSION ON WEST BENGAL ELECTIONS Last night, ECI issued a press release giving the total number of electors for the 152 constituencies that went to polls in Phase 1 of Bengal elections. 👉 ECI says total number of electors for these 152 constituencies is 3.60 crores 👉 Now, according to ECI data, total number of electors for these 152 constituencies in 2021 was 37,815,288 (3.78 crores) 👉 This means, after SIR, only 18 lakh electors were deleted across these 152 constituencies 👉 The total number of deletions (including “under adjudication”) across Bengal after SIR is 90 lakhs So, according to the data released by ECI last night 👉 Only 18 lakh deleted after SIR in 152 constituencies of Phase 1 👉 Which means, the total deleted for remaining 142 constituencies of Phase 2 should be 72 lakhs THIS MAKES ZERO SENSE. Clearly, ECI is not releasing the total number of electors for the Phase 1 constituencies that voted yesterday to keep up their FALSE CLAIM of “unprecedented high turnout”. Gyanesh Kumar is doing this to help BJP’s propaganda of “high turnout shows anti-incumbency” This is how brazenly ECI is manipulating data. Why hasn’t ECI released the data for total electors and total turnout (not percentage) for Phase 1 yet?

Her name was Sheena Bora. She was 25 years old. An assistant manager at Mumbai Metro One. She lived in Mumbai, had a job she loved and a relationship she believed in. On the evening of April 24, 2012, she received a call. She was told she was being taken out for an engagement gift. She got into a car. She was strangled inside that car. Her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad. The police found the decomposed remains in May 2012. The case was closed as an unidentified body. For three years, nobody looked for Sheena Bora. Her mother Indrani Mukerjea told people Sheena had moved to the United States for higher studies. She produced forged emails. She sent fake texts from Sheena’s phone. People believed her. Indrani was the CEO of INX Media. She was named by the Wall Street Journal as one of 50 Women to Watch in 2008. She was married to Peter Mukerjea, one of India’s most powerful television executives. What almost nobody knew was that Sheena was not Indrani’s sister. Sheena was her daughter. Born when Indrani was a teenager. Hidden from the world. Introduced to Mumbai society as a sibling. In August 2015, Indrani’s driver Shyamvar Rai was arrested in an unrelated weapons case. He confessed. He had been in the car. He named Indrani and her ex husband Sanjeev Khanna. Indrani was arrested on August 25, 2015. She spent nearly seven years in jail as an undertrial. In 2022, the Supreme Court of India granted her bail noting that 185 of 237 prosecution witnesses were yet to be examined and there was no sign of the trial completing. She has since written a memoir, acted in theatre productions and received awards. The trial is still ongoing. Sheena Bora was killed in 2012. Her daughter had grown up calling her an aunt. Her remains were found in a forest. An unidentified body for three years. She deserved better than to disappear without anyone noticing.

Bengal goes to polls. What I saw in Murshidabad shook me to the core. 91 lakh people may not be able to vote. The Election Commission of India has failed the Constitution and the poorest of Bengal. Helicopter media and jhaalmuri media will not show you this. A collective failure!
