@KP24 You've never won a cricket world cup so how can you advise? T20 World Cup is not applicable to your point.

South Africa have never won a cricket world cup! There should be a phone call this morning, from the South African cricket board, to Heinrich Klaasen, to ask him if he can rejoin international cricket and be a central figure in their campaign to try and win their first ever world cup which will be in South Africa next year.

@thangadurai1981 'Inaccurate' but he texted South African cricketers on how to get Strauss out? Should have gone there and then. And his media dog Piers Morgan called Cook a weasel and not once did KP come to his defence. Just because he was brilliant doesn't excuse being a c***

@RupukPatel Inaccurate. KP himself was ill-treated by the management and made a convenient scapegoat. He wasn't perfect but he didn't deserve to have his character assassinated. And he didn't 'get his mates in the media' to go after anyone. He should've told them to cease and desist though.

@thangadurai1981 KP knowingly stabbed his own teammates in the back and got his mates in the media to drag Cook. He was the problem and that hasn't changed.

@Rajiv1841 KP lost his place in England when he stabbed his own teammates in the back. Not because he supported IPL

Alastair Cook was one of the guy, who was against Kevin Pieterson's participation in IPL & even dropped him from Indian Team, now he is going after young Jacob Bethell & it is just so sad to see. Kevin Pietersen lost his international prematurely just because he supported IPL, today I am not surprised at all @KP24 is again there to support IPL & Bethell against the same guy.

Alastair Cook has absolutely NO IDEA what it's like to be in the IPL. What's it's like to always be around the best players in the world. So his opinion on Jacob Bethell doesn't matter at all. Stay in India, Jacob. I know, even though you're not playing, you're learning and will be a way better player. 👍🏻

Quite an astonishing experience last night: an absolutely packed meeting of residents to discuss the 420 houses proposed in the planning application submitted by Taylor Wimpey for Manor Farm Tongham. The message from the community could not have been clearer. People are not saying no to any development; what they are saying - overwhelmingly - is that Tongham is already under immense strain after years of unconstrained expansion. The village has absorbed wave after wave of new housebuilding, with precious little of the supporting infrastructure delivered. Residents are understandably jaded. I was hugely impressed by how strongly the community expressed their views, and by how much they value Tongham’s identity, scale and sense of community. I felt humbled and impressed by residents determination to be heard and to preserve the nature and character of the area they love. I will be joining residents in submitting a formal objection to the application. Huge thanks to Tongham Parish Council for their work representing the community, and to local Councillors Matt Furniss and Sallie Barker.

Cocky Aussies are gobbing off like they’ve already won the Ashes. They haven’t. England have had a shocking start but we can still win this series. Just need the rest of the team to burn with same ferocious intensity as their leader @benstokes38 . Start blazing, gentlemen. 🔥

TONGHAM 400 MORE HOMES? Last week Taylor Wimpey announced proposals for a major development adjacent to the Hogs back Brewery (known as ‘Manor Farm development’), plus a further 900 homes proposed between Normandy and Flexford - just to the north of the Godalming and Ash boundary. The consequences of Labour's recent doubling of housing targets are now hitting hard - Guildford BC’s has risen from 560 to over 1,100 and Waverley BC’s from 710 to more than 1,400. Across both Guildford and Waverley boroughs, national planning rules require councils to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing land. At present, both are below this threshold: Guildford: 2.98 years Waverley: 1.28 years When this happens, planning decisions are subject to what is known as the “tilted balance,” which places greater weight on approving new development. This effectively means planning permission is being granted on appeal, so instead of planned development we see speculative development, without the infrastructure it needs and in less appropriate places. We all support the clear need for homes for young people and families, but areas like Tongham, Ash and further south villages like Alfold have seen particularly rapid expansion in recent years. Many residents are rightly concerned about the loss of rural green fields, cumulative detrimental impact on roads, health services and school places. I will continue to press for development that is properly supported by infrastructure. And I will be continuing to ask Government to reassess the ridiculously high housing numbers for our area which are causing such havoc and negative unintended consequences.

Last week in Barnet, Labour approved plans for 25 tower blocks to be built along the Barnet/Harrow border. Some of these blocks will be 29 storeys tall. Labour have proven (yet again) that they can't be trusted on planning. Don't risk this in Harrow, Vote Conservative in May 2026

Labour promised 1.5 million new homes. The truth? They’re miles off. The OBR says Labour will fail, like they always do. The last Conservative government delivered 2.5 million.  And we’ll keep going. Homes where they’re needed, countryside protected, British families first.

@lucy_wakeley @consyimby If the safety of residents was at risk, maybe have a word with the officer who recommended it for approval?

@RupukPatel @consyimby This is a direct quote from the London fire brigade about this development. I won't apologise for standing up for the safety of my residents. What we asked for last night is for the decision to be deferred until the safety issues were addressed. That was voted down
