Alastair Cook has absolutely NO IDEA what it's like to be in the IPL. What's it's like to always be around the best players in the world. So his opinion on Jacob Bethell doesn't matter at all. Stay in India, Jacob. I know, even though you're not playing, you're learning and will be a way better player. 👍🏻

🌳 A proposal has been submitted for 150 houses in #TheydonBois on #GreenBelt. Green Belt protects the nature of our precious village. I will continue to do everything I can working with community groups & residents to oppose this development & to stand up for our community. 🌳

TONGHAM 400 MORE HOMES? Last week Taylor Wimpey announced proposals for a major development adjacent to the Hogs back Brewery (known as ‘Manor Farm development’), plus a further 900 homes proposed between Normandy and Flexford - just to the north of the Godalming and Ash boundary. The consequences of Labour's recent doubling of housing targets are now hitting hard - Guildford BC’s has risen from 560 to over 1,100 and Waverley BC’s from 710 to more than 1,400. Across both Guildford and Waverley boroughs, national planning rules require councils to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing land. At present, both are below this threshold: Guildford: 2.98 years Waverley: 1.28 years When this happens, planning decisions are subject to what is known as the “tilted balance,” which places greater weight on approving new development. This effectively means planning permission is being granted on appeal, so instead of planned development we see speculative development, without the infrastructure it needs and in less appropriate places. We all support the clear need for homes for young people and families, but areas like Tongham, Ash and further south villages like Alfold have seen particularly rapid expansion in recent years. Many residents are rightly concerned about the loss of rural green fields, cumulative detrimental impact on roads, health services and school places. I will continue to press for development that is properly supported by infrastructure. And I will be continuing to ask Government to reassess the ridiculously high housing numbers for our area which are causing such havoc and negative unintended consequences.

The Tories presided over flat growth and the worst housing crisis this country has ever faced, and they have learnt nothing. Here's the Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Helen Whately opposing vital new homes in her constituency. Only Labour will Build Baby Build.

Pupils at a primary school in Hyde have taken their campaign to protect Tameside’s countryside right to the top of the Government. Youngsters from Gee Cross Holy Trinity Primary have written to both Tameside Council and 10 Downing Street to voice their objections to the proposed Godley Green Garden Village department. The school council, made up of pupils aged five to 11 years old, sent a detailed letter outlining their concerns over the plans, which would see more than 2,000 homes built on green belt land to the south of Hyde. Wipeout for Labour in next May’s local elections would spell the end of Keir Starmer’s premiership, MPs tell @peterwalker99 & co. “If the national vote across Wales in May is even in the ballpark of Caerphilly, there’s absolutely no way we can carry on like we are after that”. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

(5/6)I'm so sorry that we weren't able to persuade the Labour members of the planning committee last night to change their minds. We will continue to campaign against this development and we really appreciate all your support helping us to do so.
