Nearly 7,000 languages. Countless ways to say peace. 🕊️ Spoken and signed languages carry knowledge, identity and unique ways of understanding our world. Established in 1999 at the initiative of Bangladesh, International Mother Language Day reminds us that linguistic diversity is both a cultural and digital priority. Yet most online content — and much AI data — reflects only a small fraction of the world’s languages. At UNESCO, we believe linguistic diversity means inclusion, dignity and peace. How do you say “peace” in your language? 🕊️ unesco.org/en/days/mother…

In the early days of Jan, I spent 3 days sightseeing through The Bay(Homa). Seeing Mbita, Rusinga Island, and Mfangano Island by bike was more than I hoped for. This country and its people are beautiful. Grateful that I got to do it 🫠🏝️🚴🏿‍♂️🏊🏿‍♂️

Paukwa Stories 🇰🇪
The Abasuba are a Bantu community that migrated from Uganda and found refuge on the Lake Victoria islands of Mfangano and Rusinga. Among the Abasuba, death is the glorious end of one form of life and the sign of transition into a new state of being.🧵#KeRites
