I’m sad to announce the loss of another railway colleague. Another member of the orange army gone. In the Electrification world, we’re not thousands… we’re a few hundred at most, spread across companies but tied together by the same work, the same risks, the same long nights keeping the railway moving. Most of us from the older guard know each other. Names aren’t just names—they’re faces, graft, stories, and shared miles on the track. And now those faces are turning into funerals. Five last year. And already, more this year. That’s not just numbers. That’s mates. Men who stood in the cold, in the dark, in the wind—getting the job done when most of the country was asleep. We don’t forget our own. Rest easy, mate. Your shift is done.

(And, YES, of course I also equally blame the Tories for where we are…obviously…) But this government, in particular, just acts as if they absolutely loathe us. Rant over. For today…
