It’s a busy day today. In Bergamo, Italy, Serie À, Angelina Melnikova will be competing for her team. In Baku, we’ll have the event finals of the junior trophy. There are gymnasts from RUS, AZE and UZB, both boys and girls. If you have links to video please share.

@ThrillaRilla369 Surely it depends on their income level. Retired people or pensioners aren’t all on the breadline.

‘What the public feel’ can’t be the right direction for government when media (social and mass) is so intent on dictating the narrative We have lost sight of the difference between politics, policy ànd government. The power of media as part of Establishment is out of proportion

Is politics a competition for who can achieve the best social media ànd mass media coverage? Or is it the work of developing policy, and transforming that policy into practice for the benefit of populations ànd the environment? It seems to me that it is difficult to do both.

Rayner has been cleared, but the media ran 30 front pages in total, averaging 4 front pages a day during the peak of the story. Farage's £5 million gift has had two front page stories. Why would there be such a difference in reporting standards for the two?

If Starmer has really messed up the voting, Burnham won’t be elected. Especially if the alternative candidates work together, and there is tactical voting.

You know what really boils my piss ? Burnham dumps Manchester , creating a hugely undesirable mayoral election which Labour won’t necessarily win. Then he swans into Downing Street after Starmer’s done all the heavy lifting. 3rd rate behaviour. Enraged here. 😡

To anyone considering a leadership challenge I say - put the country first, not your own interests or those you might claim are the interests of the party. Keir Starmer has a massive democratic mandate from the public, nobody has the right to seek to depose him, nobody. Not Wes, not Ed, not Andy, not Angie. Yes Keir is unpopular in the polls, that’s current public sentiment - it’s not a mandate for getting rid of him. Opinion polls are snapshots of opinions. Local election results are always an opportunity to register a protest. Labour has a job to do, we’re not even two years in yet, things are tough - a leadership challenge would be self indulgent and illogical - in my view.

@Peston ‘Wishful thinking’? By whom? As a long standing member of the Labour Party, I just want to get on with governing the country instead of shooting ourselves in the foot. Don’t assume so much. You are giving yourself away.

Those close to Streeting say he has more than 81 nominations and could trigger a leadership contest. But they believe Streeting’s announcement could be pre-empted by the PM announcing a timetable for his departure, even today. This could all be feverish wishful thinking. But I have been told by less partisan government sources that we are “in the end game”. The alleged background is that some signatories of the “I back Keir letter” are telling him privately his time is up, that assorted cabinet ministers are set to tell him the same, and that one of those who works closest to the PM has been briefing such to backbench MPs. BUT Downing Street is saying the ball is in Streeting’s court and there is no chance of the PM announcing a departure timetable today. And that if Streeting wants a leadership contest, he will have to trigger it. It is quite the game of chicken, with the future of the government at stake

There's a lot of talk about angry MPs, but on this platform there are tons of angry and very frustrated Labour members who support @Keir_Starmer. We haven't bought into any of the frenzied circus that the media has become, and we all loudly condemn the opportunists, plotters and schemers who could destroy the Labour Party. I think we're representative of a larger number of people who don't use the platform but know how to use their minds. I'm grateful to all the MP's who back Keir Starmer no matter what and who are making their presence felt here. #IStandWithStarmer
