@RussiasPivot Egypt has a surplus of energy (eg. solar power is extracted by Germany currently). Natural gas and petroleum being taken by others etc. Egyptians know they don’t need nuclear power or coal. So no need to fear monger ‘energy shortage’ or use the UAE as an example.

So what is your problem? First you don't want Egypt to have nuclear power because you wrongly believe such plants cannot be cooled in hot climates. Then you're not satisfied that the government made a decision to build some. Your attitude appears to be be that Egypt should remain without energy when it already has shortages. So what is your alternative plan? Or are you just a complainer with no other solutions?

You think Rosatom's engineers are so simple they are not aware of Egypts weather? You need to do your research before commenting on things you don't understand. Many plants in hot zones, such as those in the Middle East, are built on coastlines. Using seawater removes the reliance on vulnerable river systems, providing an essentially limitless and cooler heat sink. For instance, the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates uses the ocean for cooling to generate constant baseload power. There are also specific nuclear reactor technologies (like advanced small modular reactors) designed to operate without water. Satisfied?

Moscow often helps with financing these. The El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant costs @ $29 billion to build. Russia provided 85% of this money through a $25 billion state loan. The Russia loan has a 3% annual interest rate and repayment begins in 2029. Egypt is funding the remaining 15% using private investors.
