Resilience Through Abundance. All great urban forests are filled with the wrong trees in the wrong places. With Policy & Research team at nonprofit TreePeople

Also from tonight’s @santamonicacity Council meeting: the brilliant councilman & climate justice warrior @jessezwick, just before voting to mandate “low carbon concrete”, proposing we stop using concrete & steel in favor of “mass timber” AKA “wood”. You know, chopping down trees. Councilman Zwick: trees are nature’s proven carbon capture system. They literally take carbon dioxide out of the air and release oxygen you can breathe. While also being beautiful. You’re literally advocating for deforestation in the name of helping the climate. Let that sink in. Would you also like to tip out forests to put in solar panels & carbon capture systems?

found some new city gravel today 😍

Had to come see it for myself. The photos are bad, but yes, this is a *new* bus shelter at Olympic/Western.

This project in Santa Monica is expected to cost more than $1 million per affordable housing unit... on free city-owned land la.urbanize.city/post/plans-aff…

We’re so excited that the City has applied for a $20M grant to make Venice Blvd a complete street between National and Arlington! 👏 @CW_HeatherHutt - Bus boarding islands - Concrete protected bike lanes - Bike signals - Curb ramps We’ll know in October if the City wins.

Yesterday we joined @CD5LosAngeles in unveiling a memorial sign at Olympic and Overland to honor Monique Muñoz, whose life was taken too soon by an act of speeding on our streets. This sign serves as a reminder to drivers to slow down and practice safe driving behavior.
