Not all the installations were done by @abc_contracting ! Moreover, @abc_contracting did not conduct dry tests. Please correct.

The chargé d’Affaire of Burundi Embassy in Rwanda visited @rusumonelsap and @rusumorpcl on 26/05/2023. After the visit, he appreciated the 99.5% progress made and urged its completion and start operate for electricity generation as soon as possible.

The Switchyard Control Building is 100% complete, the ground levelling and gravelling are complete, the grouting of base plates of main towers, circuit breakers and disconnector towers are completed. The quality of work is good.

Overall progress of @rusumonelsap is at about of 99%: at the Switchyard, installation of hardwired interlock for outgoing 220kV lines is ongoing, set up of ABB tele-protection equipment connecting switchyard & powerhouse is complete

The transformers are placed at their respective bays and final assembly is being completed.

At the tailrace at the left bank, the Civil Contractor completed backfilling of temporary ramp for additional rock support, installation of additional rock bolts and shotcrete are completed and cleaning of foundation is ongoing.

Overall progress of @rusumonelsap is at about of 99%: Electro-Mechanical works at 98.3% (March 2023). At the Powerhouse, installation and commissioning of Unit 1 Unit Control Board Protection System, and Monitoring Panel, Unit 1 Generator and Turbine Instrumentation witness test

The Headrace Tunnel Adit plug, top EL. 1322.20 is completed since September 2022. Cleaning of the HRT invert slab will be done prior to commissioning.

Overall status of the @rusumonelsap is at about of 99%: Civil works at 99.5% & Electro-Mechanical works at 98.3%. At the Power Intake, the downstream concrete cofferdam will partially be removed until all spillway radial gates are closed. The spillway radial gates are now open.

@PKayisire @ChroniclesRW You are right. #RusumoHPP is a diversion or run-of-river type, contrary to the impoundment type represented on the photo. @rusumonelsap should by now have reached out to the press to educate about #HPP and give updates on the project. @reg_rwanda

UPDATE: Rusumo hydropower dam will be inaugurated in August by leaders of Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi, it was announced Thursday. At cost of $468m, the 80MW power plant whose construction began 2017, will add some more much-needed electricity to grids of the 3 countries.
