I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through — it's a difficult situation, and you're not alone in facing it.
One of the greatest shortcomings of our education system is that it prepares graduates to seek employment rather than create it. After visiting your profile, I found myself inspired — over a hundred ideas came to mind about the entrepreneurial opportunities available to a qualified nutritionist like yourself.
I'd love to offer you a complimentary two-hour session at my office in Entebbe, where we can explore what your journey as a Nutrition Entrepreneur could look like. I have availability on Monday next week from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and I'd be happy to reserve that time for you.
Please let me know if you'd like to take advantage of this opportunity — I look forward to hearing from you.

THE WATOTO EDUCATION MODEL:
A Transformative Journey from Vulnerability to Empowerment
It had been quite some time since I last felt truly inspired—until yesterday, when my team and I from the @JoadahDI embarked on a visit to the Watoto Suubi Children's Village off Masaka road.
What we encountered was nothing short of extraordinary. Even the most guarded heart would soften by the end of the tour, as the sheer compassion, structure, and hope embedded in this community became evident.
Watoto Children’s Village, founded as part of Watoto Church Ministries, has been rescuing and raising orphaned and vulnerable children for over 25 years, providing holistic care in purpose-built villages that include homes, schools, medical clinics, and churches. Today, it supports over 3,000 children across three villages—Bbira, Suubi, and Laminadera—ensuring they receive food, clothing, education, and emotional nurturing to grow into healthy, whole individuals.
The Journey begins at the Watoto Babies Home, a sanctuary for the most vulnerable infants. Some are abandoned by their mothers, others come from families unable to provide care due to poverty or hardship. We heard stories that tugged at the heartstrings—one baby arrived weighing just 0.6 kg she is now a basketball player at the school in senior 3 very healthy, yet through dedicated, faith-inspired nurturing, these little ones are embraced in "Godly mothers' arms" and raised into thriving toddlers.
By age three, they transition into family-style homes, where the real magic of community begins. Each home is led by a devoted mother figure and houses exactly eight children, fostering a sense of belonging, stability, and sibling-like bonds that mimic a traditional family unit. This model emphasizes not just survival, but emotional and spiritual growth, grounding children in values of integrity and identity.
From these homes, the children seamlessly progress into Watoto's comprehensive education system, which spans from preschool all the way through university. They start in primary school, building foundational knowledge, then advance to high school—such as Hope High School in Suubi Village, known for producing some of Uganda's top scholars. The curriculum goes beyond academics, integrating character development, creative arts, sports, and life skills to help children discover their passions and talents with weekly mentorships.
Watoto's overarching goal is clear: every child should graduate with a practical skill in hand, ready to contribute positively to society, rather than just "getting a job." For those inclined toward higher education, Watoto offers sponsorships to attend universities, empowering them to pursue degrees in fields that align with their aspirations. However, a standout feature of the model—and one that particularly resonated with us at Joadah Design Institute—is the pathway to vocational training at the Hope Vocational and Technical Institute (HVTI), conveniently located on the Suubi campus. HVTI is a beacon of practical, hands-on learning, offering 12 certificate-level programs and three diploma courses in areas like Electrical Engineering and Hotel & Institutional Catering and ICT. The diverse offerings include Building & Construction, Electrical Services, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Woodwork (Carpentry), Automotive Mechanics, Art and Design (Painting and Decoration), Fashion and Design, Hotel and Institutional Catering, Cosmetology and Beauty Therapy, Journalism and Media Studies, Information Technology (IT), and Child Development.
What sets HVTI apart is its innovative blended learning approach: students spend four days a week in classrooms and workshops honing theoretical knowledge and technical skills, followed by two days immersed in real-world industry settings. This apprenticeship-style model bridges the gap between education and employment, ensuring graduates are not only qualified but also experienced and adaptable. The results speak for themselves—over 97% of students secure employment before even completing their courses. This high success rate stems from strong industry partnerships and a focus on marketable skills that address Uganda's economic needs. There's much that government departments overseeing vocational and technical education could learn from this: prioritizing practical exposure over rote learning, fostering employer collaborations, and measuring success by employability rather than just graduation rates.
At @JoadahDI , we wholeheartedly endorse this model. It aligns perfectly with our philosophy of empowering youth through design, creativity, and practical training. Seeing it in action reinforced our commitment to similar initiatives, where education isn't an end in itself but a launchpad for transformation.
We wrapped up our inspiring day with an unforgettable lunch, lovingly prepared by the residents of Home 129. The meal was more than just food—it symbolized the self-sufficiency and community spirit Watoto instills. As we left Suubi Village, we carried not just memories, but a renewed vision for how education can heal, uplift, and redefine futures. If you're ever in Uganda, a visit to Watoto is a must; it might just marvel you too.
Great thanks to Ruth Senyonjo @RuthSebagala1 and Raymond Fred Buyinza for the great Tour. Looking forward to great partnership.
