Things have escalated somewhat. The level 3 out of 5 has been dragged a little father east, but the biggest change is that the tornado risk has increased so that there is now a medium tornado threat generally west of I-65, which does include most of the Nashville Metro Area.

Scammers are adopting the Sheriff’s Office phone number at 615-898-7777 to make easy money. Scammers threaten to arrest people for missing grand jury or for an arrest warrant. Deputies DO NOT CALL people for missing grand jury or for an arrest. Save your cash for you.

@RCTNSheriff asks Buchanan residents to stay inside during an ongoing emergency situation. Manchester Hwy. closed Epps Mill Road-Big Springs Rd. I-24 closed both toward Nashville and Chattanooga from the Coffee County line to South Church Street in Murfreesboro.

East Jefferson Pike closed for crash response Emergency responders rescued a dump truck driver from the wreckage after his truck overturned on East Jefferson Pike at Hedgeapple Road. Deputies are re-directing traffic. Expect a lengthy delay while the wreckage is cleared.

Scammers using Sgt. Campbell's name left a message for a resident asking him to call about a “sensitive matter.” The resident called @RCTNSheriff to verify deputies don't make these calls. Don’t return these calls. You’ll save yourself from parting with your hard-earned money.

Expect delays on I-24 near Joe B. Jackson Pkwy. A tractor-trailer truck is blocking 1 lane of I-24 toward Nashville before the exit ramp to Joe B. Jackson Pkwy. The lane will be blocked until a wrecker can move the truck. Please slow down & watch for the truck in the foggy area.

TDOT will close eastbound lanes on I-24 from 4 am to 1 pm on 2/4/26 from mile marker 67 to 68, just east of Sam Ridley Parkway.

Expect extended delays on I-24 near I-840 exit. A tractor-trailer jackknifed Tuesday, closing 2 lanes of I-24 toward Chattanooga @ I-840. The two lanes will be closed for an extended period of time while the wreckage is cleared. Drivers should slow down. Please be patient.

A retired federal agent notified Sheriff Fitzhugh that he got a call threatening him that deputies were coming to get him. The call used was from @RCTNSheriff No. 615-898-7777. Sheriff’s deputies DO NOT call people and threaten to “come and get them." Don't listen. Just hang up.

Seminary Road near W. Sagefield Drive is closed after a power line near a house on fire dropped on the ground. @RCTNSheriff & Smyrna Police blocked the road while firefighters battle flames and MTE crews handle the live power lines. Please be patient during the response.

First responders, incident response staff, and road and utility crews worked overnight as Rutherford County continues to combat severe winter storm impacts. County offices are closed Monday, 1/26/26 and all public meetings are canceled. PAWS is closed to the public as well.

@RCTNSheriff advises stay home off icy roads. Drivers will face icy conditions if they drive Monday on state highways and back roads in Rutherford Co. If you have to drive, maintain a slow speed and don’t make any sudden stops. Wreckers have pulled out many drivers. Stay home.
