Relive some of the incredible moments from #RwandaDay2024 and stay connected virtually through: rwandaday.rw
Until next time, remember that every day is Rwanda Day!
I saw someone ask what the purpose of #RwandaDay is, and I couldn't find a better than the rwandaful story of Josephine BUKURU & Joselyne BUTOYI❤️❤️ cc @JosyMurphy
Their journey began with a request to the President during #RwandaDay2013 in Toronto which led to the realization of their dreams through @shelterthem_rw in @BugeseraDistr. Fast forward to yesterday's #RwandaDay2024 in #Washington, they get to return to express gratitude to him 🥹
Their story is a testimony of how #Rwanda-ns abroad maintain a profound connection to their roots and actively contribute to the nation's development hence the need to keep them involved and engaged.
Guys, we are led and #RwandaWorks 🤌🏾

“Our journey has been quite long, and trying, difficult, but that’s the beauty of it. That we are where we are, through those difficulties. We have endured, we have survived, we want to do just as much to be better human beings, to be where we want to be that some people in other parts of the world have taken for granted. We will be there no matter what.” President Kagame | #RwandaDay
“As Rwandans, we can’t afford to waste the lessons learned from our tragedy. There are so many lessons, including that sometimes, in times of need, you are on your own.” President Kagame | #RwandaDay
“You know, people say that lightning does not strike twice in the same place. It doesn’t strike the same place twice. Maybe. But for me, I want to be on the safe side, I would rather make sure and prepare for a situation where Rwanda that was struck once badly in 1994 will not be struck again. ” President Kagame | #RwandaDay
Pres. Kagame: “As Rwandans, we can’t afford to waste the lessons learned from our tragedy. There are so many lessons, including that sometimes in time of need, you are on your own. So, you prepare for when that time comes”.
Pres. Kagame: "I have also heard people say; if you want to go fast, you go alone. If you want to go and reach far, you have to go together. You know, I want us to go together but I want us to go fast and reach far. Both of them. I do not think there is any contractions".
“Rwandans have repaired what was destroyed, including our lives. And we are much better now than 30 years ago. We just have to keep going. I was going to say don’t relax, but I want you to relax. Only remember that, while you relax, parallel to that, you need to be doing the right things, the right way, and at the right speed. You can go far and fast at the same time. That’s what our situation compels us to do and we must think like that.” President Kagame | #RwandaDay
President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame have arrived at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center where the President will interact with over 4,000 Rwandans living abroad and friends of Rwanda as well as many who flew in from Rwanda for this year’s #RwandaDay.
