@RwandaPolytec leadership recently came together to reflect and strategize on advancing gender equality and social inclusion across all RP Colleges. Discussions focused on how to better integrate practical and sustainable #gender responsive approaches across institutional policies, programs, leadership, and campus life. The leadership reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where students and staff can participate, thrive, and reach their full potential. Under the Higher Education Pedagogy for Teacher Education (HEP-TED) Project, senior leaders from @RwandaPolytec held an engaging discussion with academic leaders and experts in quality management and pedagogical leadership from Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The exchange focused on the importance of pedagogical leadership and how it can strengthen students’ learning experiences and improve academic performance. The HEP-TED project continues to foster mutually beneficial collaboration between Rwandan and Finnish universities, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-institutional learning in key areas such as pedagogy, quality assurance, and higher education management.

Today, @RwandaPolytec and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences signed an agreement to establish a joint academic programme in engineering. The collaboration aims to create a study pathway connecting the Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronics Technology offered at @RwandaPolytec and the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Automation Engineering at @SeAMK. This partnership will give students access to shared expertise and new learning opportunities while strengthening collaboration with industry in #Rwanda and #Finland through training, applied research, and innovation. The agreement was signed during the Rwanda-Nordic and Baltic Business Forum.

Today, Rwanda Polytechnic, through the HEP TED Project and in partnership with local and international universities @Uni_Rwanda @INESRUHENGERI @uiagder as well as the Embassy of Rwanda to the Nordic Countries, participated in the ESPORT&Gaming Rally held at Petit Stade Kigali. The event was graced by @DianeGashumba, who also awarded the competitors. It aimed at fostering hands-on skills through innovative and practical teaching approaches in digital creativity and application in ESPORT. Rwanda Polytechnic is exploring ESPORT and games as modern educational tools, enabling the students and staff to apply their knowledge in real-life experience. Todays activity features dynamic ESPORT competitions, games such as: ◀️EAFC26, ◀️Rocket League, ◀️Mario Kart, ◀️Fall guys and it will be followed by structured training sessions in game design and development using accessible platforms such as Unity and Godot.

Today, as part of the ongoing Higher Education Pedagogy for Teacher Education (HEP-TED) Project, the team from Tampere University of Applied Science in Finland visited Musanze College to explore the teaching and learning environment/ process to align with the ongoing effort to prepare for the delivery of the new Post Graduate Diploma in Technical Education to be offered.

Connecting classroom theory with real industrial practices, in collaboration with @AFD_en, @LuxDev_HQ and @expertisefrance through the AFTER II Project, yesterday, our Year 2 Students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department strengthened their practical knowledge of renewable energy technologies through an insightful study visit to the Nyabarongo Hydro Power Plant. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore key operational areas of the plant, including the dam and the powerhouse, where they observed firsthand how water is collected, controlled, and converted into electrical energy. This field experience enabled them to deepen their understanding of hydropower generation systems, from water intake and turbine operation to electricity production and transmission.

This morning, @RwandaPolytech received a delegation from CSC Koblenz, comprising representatives from Uganda’s government and private sector, under the Germany–EAC TVET partnership project. They exchanged best practices and gained deeper insights into RPs In-Company Instructor Training Curriculum and how it is implemented. Through this approach, industry professionals are equipped with essential learning facilitation and assessment skills to effectively mentor students during industrial placements- strengthening the connection between classroom learning and practical, job-ready experience. The delegation was also introduced to the Rwanda TVET Trainer Institute, which prepares trainers from both training institutions and industry to deliver high-quality, competency-based education. The visit concluded with a tour of the ICT Innovation Center, showcasing innovation in action at RP.
