I can deal with a lot of difference in views and opinions but two things will get you blocked: 1) The R word. I have two autistic kids and do not tolerate that slur. 2) Dishonesty/posting misinformation without correction. There is no such thing as debate when one side lies.

Full Court Press = Let’s Go WA = Future 42 = Project 42 = The Center Square = another org paid for by Steve Gordon and Brian Heywood made to look like a non-partisan group when it’s really just two guys spending a lot of money to look like an organic political movement.

Narcissism level: off the charts Being denied a day pass to the legislature for being a political operative and being investigated for your financial relationship with a political group is not the same as a federal subpoena or federal agents showing up at your door. JFC

While I was watching the Tyler Robinson hearing with other allowed media in the jury box, a local reporter turned to me after we heard testimony from a witness about the bullets. He asked, “how would you describe a smirk?” And I said — are you asking because of Tyler Robinson’s reaction to the testimony? We were maybe 15 feet away from Robinson during the preliminary hearing and naturally looked to Robinson to see how he would react to things. He mostly didn’t. To anything. He spoke to his lawyers, talking and sometimes smiling or even a few times laughing with them during breaks and scribbling on a legal notepad, but mostly he was stone faced. He didn’t look back at his parents or the Kirk family. He nodded at the judge when he was greeted in the morning. And that was it. But there was a … something … when the expert witness was reading the etchings on the bullets. Specifically “notices bulge OwO what’s this.” I thought I saw a … I don’t know. A smize? A flash of recognition? Just … something. The local reporter agreed but it wasn’t enough to call it a smirk. That was a loaded adjective. We talked about it for maybe 5 minutes and ultimately neither of us reported it because there wasn’t a word to fairly describe what we had both seen. I’m thinking about this only because the online conversation — and even on a cable opinion network that used to employ me — over the last 24 hours has been dominated by people who are not journalists but call themselves journalists. People who are deeply unserious, and careless, even reckless. Conspiracy theorists on the right and others without a political home. The local reporter and I watched carefully, taking a notebook worth of notes over 5 days, and agonizing over what we saw, to make sure it was correct and fair. The people getting attention on this website are by and large, not journalists. Maybe seek some out.

Republicans against Trump

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board tears apart Trump’s tariffs in a blistering editorial: “The President is right that his tariffs are at work—in destroying U.S. jobs and raising prices. The U.S. has lost some 75,000 manufacturing jobs since January 2025, including 25,900 in motor vehicle and parts production... there’s no question his tariffs are raising costs for U.S. manufacturers.…Mr. Trump and his advisers claim that foreigners pay his border taxes, but the evidence shows that U.S. companies, workers and consumers are picking up most of the tab. The Anderson Economic Group estimates that auto tariffs on Canada and Mexico alone added about $1,600 to the cost of each car made in the U.S. last year. While auto makers absorbed some of the Trump tariff costs, they also passed on a large share to customers…Call it the Trump tax.”

@Rachel_RedWA @LocalNewsTrash If you only care about women and girls sports when trans girls and women are playing, you don’t care about women and girls sports. You care about making sports political to further your idealogical agenda.

@LocalNewsTrash Local News Trash - Because what Brandi fights for is inequality. The Women's Pro Baseball League doesn't fit that bill. But you already know that. You are just disparaging her to meet your personal perverted agenda.

It's becoming clear that the manosphere doesn't understand how journalism or the legal system works on a fundamental level. These women provided corroborating evidence strong enough to overcome the legal review at major publications, which could have been sued for printing unsubstantiated claims. If Platner truly believed these claims to be defamatory, he could have sent cease-and-desist letters or sued 1) me 2) the outlets or 3) the women. None of that has happened. If you're upset that we're back in a world where we fight for women and refuse to elect predators, you're going to have to get used to it because we're just getting started.
Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️@christopherrufo

This is the return of the #MeToo standard, which is to reflexively “believe women” and to render judgement without any investigation, scrutiny, critical faculty, or criminal trial—in short, the accusation is the evidence. It was bad then, and bad now. Don’t let them revive it.

They literally make shit up about what trans people are “supposed to believe” and if they actually spoke to a trans person they’d learn it was bullshit. But that’s too easy. And they wouldn’t be able to justify hating us if they realized how nuanced our lives actually are.
Dimmeh Looming@TheDimmeh

Obv not RTing the actual source and giving them money but I always find this shit so funny. I have genuinely never met a single trans person who believes this.

I think this hits on something that’s been bothering me about the “Epstein class” label. Sexual abuse is not a class issue. But that framing has allowed men to talk about sexual abuse in the same way they talk about the billionaires or corporate greed. Without gender analysis
Gillian Branstetter@GBBranstetter

I do suspect part of the appeal of the Epstein story (including many Trump supporters) is it exceptionalizes sexual violence as a product of a decadent elite rather than something committed by boyfriends, husbands, fathers, priests, and coaches

One side effect of Platner embarrassing the Democrats is that it’s kept the spotlight off of the absolute psychos the GOP continues to nominate. Like this GOP candidate for Governor of CO who keeps bragging about killing a guy.
CNN@CNN

Marine veteran Victor Marx, whose wild claims – including saying he was forced to kill a man at age 7 – have drawn widespread attention and significant skepticism, will win the Republican nomination for governor in Colorado, CNN’s Decision Desk projects. cnn.it/3SUDuwH
