All they seemingly do is attend the same events with the same people, usually chatting the same shite as the last time. Organisations making up impact assessments, or heavily bloating them, to get more funding through the door. The sooner they close down most of them the better.

Not really been over this but, yeah,The Alerts Group is a load of toss anyway. I told them about some of the shambolic things I'd heard about Beacon Counselling Trust and they did sweet fuck all with that info - a 'community' full of grifters and charlatans.
anti NGSN@expolicegambler

Does this like collusion?????? Out of the picture for everything this has been shared. Also a lie was spread that I gave an alcoholic a box of alcohol, Guess fucking what he is not an alcoholic !!!!!!!!!! @gambleawaregb @GordonMoodyOrg

😂😂😂 Matt Gaskell, the bloke is a conniving shitbag. Between him, his cronies, and Gambling with Lives, they've done more harm to this sector. The only interests this bloke serves is his own. Arrogant bell end.

#Congratulations to Dr Matt Gaskell, Clinical Lead and Consultant Psychologist at the NHS Northern Gambling Service. He's been awarded an #MBE for ‘Services to People Experiencing Gambling Harm’ in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours. Well done, Matt! @LeedsandYorkPFT

ever-growing audience, GA & co are fooled into ploughing dough into a variety of projects that have little-to-no impact. I don't wish for that to come across as bitter in any way, but it's just the truth. There just appears to be a real lack of common sense in this sector.

money flowing through the door. Why do you think people like Jamie Salsburg, Brian Hatch, and ABAO were able to amass many hundreds, if not thousands, of listens per episode on a relative shoe-string? Rather than work with people and nurturing new talent which had a genuine >

Yeah, I've given it a listen. Kudos to you guys. The difference being is that this one is serving a purpose as a genuine project. There's a difference between that and attracting a listenership of about 20 people - the majority of which will likely just be internal people of >

Gotta' wonder as to why organisations within the gambling harms sector persist with producing podcasts that barely anyone watches or listens to. Maybe take a step back and understand the reasonings as to why they continually fail at captivating an audience, no? 🤦‍♂️

Gambling is a normal pastime and has been since before written history - to suggest otherwise is absolutely barmy. That doesn't make me an apologist for bad practice industry-wise; acknowledging this & being all-encompassing supports a more rounded approach to harm prevention.
Martin Paterson. @Beatthefix@MartinPaterso13

@RyanABAOPod See all this k rap about education workshops etc. deflecting from industry bad practice, and all the vultures taking millions of pounds from gambling firms to tick a box and nudge innocent minds into the normalisation that gambling is normal to justify the algorithm

Yup. No technical expertise, making for poor literature and resources. Legit been on important meetings with him when he's been drinking bottles of beer and smoking. Entered the sector for all the wrong reasons. Another RET-listed org that essentially fabricates impact.

worse off financially to where I was before trying to do something I had a genuine passion and care about. Nobody ever really reached out to see if I was ok as I did with other folk. Other people have suffered the same fate. This space is a contributor of harm. Sickening.

staging events i.e., the football fun day as an example, I personally contributed to peoples fundraising, and people have got jobs in the space through my introductions etc. What did I get from this space in return? Abuse and isolation that inevitably led to a relapse. I'm much >

But that's the most frustrating part. Personally, I thought I offered excellent value. The most successful gambling harms podcast in the UK listened to by tens of thousands worldwide & academics of harms being advised by their teachers to listen. I've supported people >

@RyanABAOPod Regardless of anything. You've had more impact doing what you have done, than the vast majority, no matter how heavily they were funded. I don't need to tell you that of course.

This is one of the reason why I absolutely detest the gambling harms space. It takes away from genuine, fully-committed lived experience folk, chews them up and spits them out, no f*cks given. In the meantime, you've got people like GwL attempting to fully-control/monopolise. 🤢

Jesus Christ, and I couldn't even raise a mere and very modest £50-75k a year to keep me going. 👀 On just a few grand I was able to build my workshops, resources & engage with thousands of children/YP, fully evaluated etc. But we can keep some 'big wigs' in overpaid jobs. >
Jordan Lea@lynchjordan12

Hey @Charles_GwL great year Gambling with Lives have had financially, How did you do it? Well, £145,000 from Derek Webb, but that £643,000 had best not be @GamRegGB. That would be extremely unfortunate. Considering Will's letter to the Commission that was FOI'd.

The system, however, would rather fund a bunch of people speaking at children about all sorts of stuff that they ain't that arsed about as opposed to the critical entry-points to gambling and how that's manifesting in their day-to-day lives, resulting in actual interventions.

Enjoying Coffeezilla's recent investigation around CSGO and the black market. When I was entering school's and speaking to children it was these discussions that they engaged with most as this really is their language - not the prevalence of advertising & so forth.

of people don't wish to hear things like this. Unless you just blame industry and spout this same rhetoric then you're not seen as an ally. I've heard things from people close to the cause that also doubt a lot of the narrative too - but it's beneficial for them to stay close. 💰

axe to grind (understandably so, btw). Whilst I feel sorry for those bereaved through gambling harms, like I've said before, most cases are a lot more complex than industry alone. You only have to go into a room with a dozen gambling addicts to understand this. But these types >

Honestly, @ClaireCNWL's hasty and irresponsible quip about @GordonMoodyOrg shows how she's just become a puppet for the prohibition types who are solely focused on industry and how pretty much nothing else can be blamed on gambling harms - the complexities & nuances of addiction.
