The good thing about languages is that they don’t really change the course content too frequently. These centralised PowerPoint lessons save teachers time and have course content laid out, ready to go. There are only so many ways to skin a cat (I think is a saying).

MAJOR SHORTCOMINGS OF THE 2021 OFSTED RESEARCH REVIEW AND WHY IT DOESN'T BODE WELL FOR LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN ENGLAND I have just re-read the 2021 OFSTED review and whilst there are some really good things in there, e.g. the importance of curriculum coherence, attention to phonics and sound–symbol correspondence, the role of memory and retrieval, it presents a narrow and outdated vision of language learning rooted in structuralism and curriculum orthodoxy which is very unlikely to enhance MFL students' engagement and motivation. Here are 7 major shortcomings that I have identified base don SLA theory and research.
