@birdlandminute If it’s not benching, what else would it be? And don’t expect Alby to come out and that verbatim bc that stuff is kept in house. And no, it’s not a big deal when your franchise catcher acts like he gets shot for a minor boo boo and is rocking back on the home plate umpire.

The Samuel Basallo situation is so bizarre. I hate to say it but it feels like this is starting to derail the season. Obviously wouldn’t matter if the team was winning. Choosing to sit a healthy player, while on a 3 game losing streak, with the other catcher also hurt?

Highest slugging percentage by a qualified catcher 21 or younger since World War II: Johnny Bench, .487 Orioles' Samuel Basallo has a .487 slugging percentage so far this season.

4. West Ham and Wolves had been teetering and flirting with relegation level form and underlyings for a couple seasons, and these relegations weren’t actually surprising. I’m not sure there’s a clear “bottom falls out” candidate currently in the league, which will make it hard for the newcomers.

What will I remember most from the Premier League season? A thread. 1. The Year of the Set Piece This isn’t just Arsenal, who have become the posterchild for this. The maximization of set pieces up and down the table led to significant decreases of ball in play time, open play xG creation, and a sloggish pace to so many more matches. The league was less compelling to watch as a result. You can’t blame the teams for acting optimally and finding edges, but you can blame rules/officials for letting it get this far.

Perhaps dinging Lamar for last season is too reactionary - but obviously his elusive traits took a downturn in 2025 more than Herbert’s, despite the P2S% numbers both being down.

@ravens4dummies The tight end room could be bottom five if Andrews doesn’t rebound and the rookies don’t click. It’s a bleak group.

Looking at the Ravens depth chart Their biggest question mark is still center. I think if they felt good there, DeCosta wouldn’t have mentioned looking intro trades. Still could, perhaps, be looking for a late cut that they know about already. Certainly strange to see their tight end room transform this way. Think they’ll depend on Smythe more than folks might think and gives insight into Declan Doyle’s mindset. Defensively… still comes down to Madubuike. If he is 2023 or 2024 Madubuike… damn good unit. Jaylinn Hawkins was a great add who should see snaps while providing versatile safety depth. C.J. Okoye flashed last year and could be quality depth. Bringing in Campbell gives a strong rotation inside. Overall, I don’t believe they have a championship offensive depth chart. If their line turns out to be a solid five, that changes. Defensively they should have what they need in addition to improving under Minter’s system.

Mediocre talent can only be developed so far (see James Proche) The Ravens lost a $13M APY & $8M APY TE this offseason. Replaced them with the 241 & 196 consensus rated prospects in a historically weak draft class But some ppl think adding vet competition for TE2 is unwise?
GIF
Flame sorcerer.@HaStyleTweets

@VasilisLerikos Not to mention. Not developing young talent is how they get caught in the sohning cheap vets cycle. It has to be broken somewhere.

@College_Crosse People do this in football with teams like Alabama all the time. They have high recruits and that are supposed to be awesome so it’s just assumed they’re awesome even if they don’t win any actual games. Alabama wasn’t winning the title last fall and Duke isn’t this spring.

The list of teams capable of winning the tournament is almost always smaller than people make it out to be. This doesn’t mean we don’t invite them in the tournament. But it does mean that if you miss the tournament, there was a very good reason for it

Duke doesn’t even play this week because they didn’t win enough games within their own conference to play this week. If they had won enough games within their conference, they would be in the tournament. Just win your games!
Mike McGorry@mcgoospot

@College_Crosse No but that’s why other sports enlarged their tournaments so as to insure that teams with realistic chances to win wouldn’t be excluded. If Duke loses this week they may not get in. Same wUVA. These are teams that can win tournament. Need to expand so more non-AQ’s get in.

Here's a way-too-early look at the Ravens' depth chart and roster projections. With 70 players under contract or drafted, they have room for 20 free agent and UDFA signings.

@RavensCPA It’s fine if he’s a high level pass catcher. In fact if you’re certain he can be Trey McBride level productive it’s probably even a better idea. But there’s nothing on tape or in his production that says he is capable of that.

On Sadiq: Do I hate the player, no. Do I hate the process, yes. Ravens are slim on resources as is and can't afford to allocate premium draft capital to the tight end position with so many other higher value needs on the roster.

@DrewBanned @VasilisLerikos The teammates wouldn’t have disliked his effort if he wasn’t a horrendous player. Ultimately every Faalele problem goes back to one thing: he’s not an NFL level athlete. And both the FO and coaching staff need to reckon with how long they tried to pretend that could be overcome.

@RyanHarmon15 @VasilisLerikos Original tweet leaves a key part of the report out. I’m not asking for Faalele to have magically become an all pro, but having teammates dislike you because you’re not willing to be coached or put in an effort to improve is a bad look.

Inditement on the coach who refused to kowtow to fan sentiment out of hubris, despite ample evidence his evaluation was clearly wrong Not a reflection on the player. Quite the inditement on the #Giants new HC
🔋@hoodiestarks

A number of #Ravens offensive players did not want OL Daniel Faalele to play once 3rd-round pick Emery Jones Jr. was healthy, per @Olsen_Don. Quite the indictment on the newest #Giants offensive lineman.

@DrewBanned @VasilisLerikos Some people just can’t do highly skilled things! This is the NFL, there’s a natural athleticism everyone who succeeds has, and Faalele is imo the wrong side of the line. There’s not really a path at that point.

@RyanHarmon15 @VasilisLerikos I think at some point you’d take enough pride in yourself and your public perception that you would put in the necessary effort to be an adequate mural painter. I’m not saying you to recreate the Sistine chapel but you can probably give an average showing.

@DrewBanned @VasilisLerikos The problem with the hypothetical is this is a job he just cannot do. It doesn’t matter how hard I work, I’m never going to be a mural painter. I can’t draw and can’t paint. At some point someone in charge has to stop me from destroying more walls.
