“Civility” compels us to leave room for their being morally defensible arguments for casting a ballot of someone of his particular constitution. But history and a commitment to truth compel us to recognize a fascist (or at least an aspiring fascist) when we see one.

Some of us are learning in real-time how empires fall into fascism. A key ingredient is an enemy to stand against. And Trump has slowly been able to convince a (sizable) minority of our population to realize their opposition to an ideology (“pro-abortion”) as hatred of people.

One of the worst things about the mentality of violence as protective is that it almost always demands either striking first to protect. Suddenly one’s own judgement about the intent of others is the determinant in meting out violence. And thus we kill in the name of safety.

@DouglasMCharles I’m so sorry. I know that feels awful. There will always be a percentage of students who will not like a class for any number of reasons. Occasionally one will also be extremely verbal about it. They don’t represent all students. Outlier. 🫂

Want to light up your baby’s brain? Think “serve and return.” 🎾 Much like a tennis match, serve and return entails back and forth interaction during which adult and child trade conversational (and other expressive) turns. This mother/son duo provides a fantastic example. Shown here at 12-weeks-old, our hero “serves” by reaching out for his mother’s attention - making sustained eye contact, smiling, and babbling. His mom meanwhile, “returns” - responding his cues and vocalizations before (importantly) pausing to allow time for her little guy to contribute his half of the “conversation.” As the two participate in this mutual exchange, neural connections are being strengthened that support the development of baby’s communication and social skills. More than just your physical presence, your baby needs your undivided attention - so be mindful of screen time and other distractions and engage your little one face-to-face as much as possible. The dividends will be huge. And yes, he has the best hair ever. This fantastic video - and model mother/son exchange - were shared by emma_carlee on TT.

Pet Peeve: People complaining about how others advocate for a cause when actually they just don’t like the cause. If you think Israel is right to bomb and kill ~40k Palestinians (large numbers of whom are children), own it. Quit with the “these protesters are terrorists” BS.

@KanaPalapala “Terror tactics” Not describing what they support. It is describing masked protesting outside a congressman’s house as “terror tactics.” My point remains. If you call Hamas out I’ll join you. If you focus on protest tactics to avoid recognition of Israel’s war crimes, I won’t.
